... That was the high for the day, but it didn't stop me from running out to a friends farm range to shoot a few rounds from my Bren 805, ACR, and the last AR I put together. They all made the steel sing at 200 ... off the bench. The gong at my friends farm is 8" ... try as I might I couldn't hit it off-hand with any of them. It wasn't for shivering, as I was toasty in a nice warm coat, ear muffs and a hat ... feeling the second stage was easy even with my gloves, but it was more of a mystery with the Bren. Maybe it was the coat & gloves ... because last summer I could ring it off-hand at least 3 out of 5 shots with the Bren and the ACR ... The AR was still in the planning stage.

31 isn't bad but with even a little breeze it gets cool fast so about 20 rounds each was just enough to scratched the itch!

Yep, that is chilly, keep moving and it isn't too bad. I hunted last two days and it was quite chilly sitting still.

At least you got to shoot, I thought about popping some squirrels for some excitement Big Grin

+1!

You need to shoot in cold so deep the mere handling of the weapon fogs the scope to frost and pistols seize up from frost buildup inside them when carried close to the body and then are taken out in the open air!!

Furthermore...

1} good on you for getting out there!

2} thanks for posting as it's a good reminder for those who are fair weather types that conditions have a lot of impact on performance and that experience can't be gained thru pecking on a keyboard.

3} those are some nice shootin' irons!!

We just got a chinook blowing in so it'll be muck boots in sodden snow at the range today. I just hope it isn't sleeting!

That is a nice looking collection. What is the foregrip on the Bren?

It's the Stark Equipment SE-5 Express Forward Grip! I bought on Amazon from some obscure company but they now have them at Optic's Planet and other fine retailers!

I got 2 of them because they look very comfortable ... and they are. I've never really cared for a vertical grip but since the Bren heats up pretty quickly, espically when suppressed, something is necessary. Besides being comfortable I don't to wear a glove!

I like it much better than the MagPul AFG, and it has storage with a tight fitting plug in the bottom, I bought two of them, the other one is on my M11 with a LAGE upper.

3/4Flap is my hero. -22 or so today here, but I bet it was way worse in Idaho. I did my animal chores all day but not a chance I was going shooting for fun. 31 I'd consider shooting in shorts and a tshirt at the moment (not really when we get there in May).

Sometimes a guy's just gotta take day off, tho.

I'd love to have a day off like that ... but we've only had a dusting of snow in mid-November and it was gone by noon ... then an inch or so on Dec 23th or so ... and while there is still a bit around here and there it was mostly gone that afternoon too.

So I guess I'll just have to envy you here in Kansas where it was -9 when I got up this morning to get ready for work ... yep, work on New Years Day!
(at least I only have to work 1/2 day, while my wife was up with 15 or so teen-age girls until about 2am (the party and sleep-over was at our house)... and she had to be to work at the hospital at 6:30)
