Just starting my journey towards an ultra-precise 10/22 build. I'm looking for sub-MOA accuracy at 50 yds, probably up to 75 yds. My "final" large purchase, a Tac-Sol 16" barrel, will be delivered soon.
I have purchased a bunch of .22 ammo that I didn't previously have, Eley, Wolf, etc. and the fun part will be
a. sighting in
b. establishing a base line
c. evaluating different ammo

My question is: should I at least run a Boresnake through the barrel between different ammo? I'll be shooting (5) 5-round groups of each at each chosen distance!

Thanks for the replies!!!

When I tested different 22 ammo I would clean between groupings. A solvent patch, brush, and dry patches. Then several fouling shots with the new ammo before shooting groups. It might not make much difference with the same brand, like Eley Club to Ten X. But going from Wolf to Eley or CCI it did help a lot.
This post might get more attention in the rifle section.

I shoot nrl22 and prs type 22 matches with a Kidd custom 10/22 clone.

Cleaning between types of ammo in testing would not be advised honestly. Each time you clean, you then have to dirty up the bore with a good number of rounds before it will settle again and give optimal accuracy.

For a long time Eley was the rimfire precision king of the hill but as of late lapua has taken over - SK is made in the same factory as lapua and I myself think it strikes a good balance between performance and cost

( current production wolf is just mid tier - club or team depending who you ask-eley in a wolf box.

The generally accepted method for testing 22 ammo is when changing brands, run about 15 rounds down range minimum before settling down and testing for groups.

Right now I am using SK long range ( purchased about 6 months ago at just over $10/ box - prices now hover between 11-12j and shoot out to 300+ yards. If staying inside of 100 a lot of lower cost ammo might be adequate for your needs but go out to extended distance and the quality of various ammo becomes painfully evident
