When I saw the congressional hearings on gun control a few weeks back, I figured I'd go ahead and get a couple of things that were on my buy list. Happily, the prices for Hellion bullpups went down to even a few dollars under MSRP instead of being $1500 above MSRP when they debuted. I haven't taken it out shooting because of my recent medical issues but hopefully in August I'll get to do so. At 8 pounds, I can certainly feel its weight. I just have the basic light (Surefire scout light with touch pad at the 3 o'clock)  And a Trijicon MRO HD with the circle dot. I tried a Vickers 2 point sling but it felt awkward. I went with a McLean single point sling that also allows a second point attachment.  The Trijicon on top of a QD low mount from ADM cowitnesses nicely with the Hellion's integral sight. I got to fondle one recently, and it's definitely my favorite bullpup out there. What do you think of the MRO HD? I'm trying to figure out if I want it or the Holosun 512. Although I never shot one, I didn't find the safety long, but it was awkward with how it pivots and in the wrong order if you're use to ARs or H&Ks. | |||

I’d been collecting parts on and off for a AR-15 build for the last five years, things kept getting in the way. Same thing here, finally got serious the beginning of May with everything that has been going on. More concerned with parts drying up as the lower was the first thing I got. I don't consider my hands to be unusually large. IIRC, I wear size 7 gloves. I just measured from the base of my thumb to the joint of the thumb as an inch and a half. With the safety on and the lever at its higher position, the joint on my right thumb reaches the end of the lever and I can bend my thumb down and press against the lever to the off position. I can put the nail side of my thumb under the lever and flick it up to put the safety on. To me, the safety is fine. I really like it. I also have Eotechs and am familiar with the workable fuzziness due to my astigmatism but the MRO is sharp. I'm also working on a CZ Scorpion and I'm between getting another MRO HD for it or a Holosun HE530G-GR You're correct that the safety is backwards compared to an AR but I'm very new to rifles and I guess I don't have muscle memory yet. Below is me holding the gun in the air and showing my thumb on the safety while taking a picture with my left hand. Huh. It's been described to me as backwards, but it looks like the safety works the same way but at a different angle. FWIW, Manticore Arms was rumored to be working on an aftermarket lever, but I haven't seen anyone come up with anything yet. Interesting about the balance - I'd heard Tavors and AUGs are weighted towards the back. | |||

It feels like working the safety on a Beretta 92 if you were suppose to work it from the back instead of the front. It's not unworkable, but it is awkward. | |||
