Just wondering, what's the opinion on Sig's one piece optic mount (Alpha 3)? I read that it's steel, but most all of the big names (Bobro, LaRue, Geissele) are made from aluminum. Other than weight savings is there a benefit of one (steel/aluminum) over the other? __edited__ ok, so this was the description I was reading on one website "SIG's proprietary steel alloy ALPHA3 Scope Mounts are machined with an exactness that is both strong yet ductile that allows the rings to form around a riflescope, yet will not damage scope under proper installation. The steel rings are epoxy powder coated to prevent oxidation and resist gun oils, cleaning solutions, and outdoor exposure." Then Sig's website says this: "Our proprietary steel alloy ALPHA3 Scope Mounts are machined with an exactness that is both strong yet ductile that allows our rings to form around a riflescope, yet will not damage scope under proper installation. The aluminum rings are anodized for protection and durability, providing longevity against any elements." So, what the heck? I guess I'll go with Sig's description, since they manufactured them? https://blessingsofliberty0.wixsite.com/mysite Veteran owned 07 FFL/ 02 SOT LandWarfareNow@gmail.com Instagram @land.warfare | ||
