Was able to score a new old stock FW stock to replace my daughter's M70 in .270 ranger stock. Originally I tried the adapter for a 2 piece bottom metal to 1 piece inlet but didn't like it. Got one from Winchester (Browning). Did a JB weld bedding of the front lug and back tang. It's curing now but so far I'm pleased with it. I'll pull it apart tomorrow to check my work and clean it up. Then to the range. Ranger far left Super grade bottom metal Hray P226 NSWG P220 W. German P239 SAS gen2 P6 1980 W. German P228 Nickel P365XL M400 SRP

This was my first time bedding a rifle think it came out OK. Probably could of used just a little more JB weld. I'll get to the range at some point and check it after some rounds. If needed I'll put a little more. All cleaned up P226 NSWG P220 W. German P239 SAS gen2 P6 1980 W. German P228 Nickel P365XL M400 SRP

Looks like you did a nice job, like the super grade floor plate. I have a mid 90s dbm model 70 (270w) I'd like to do this to. The barrel is not free floated, but I'd like to sand out the stock to get there. I don't mind the box mag, but preference would be the hinged floor plate. Conversion may not be worth the work, probably gonna leave it as is. It was the first M70 I bought.

Is that an uncheckered FW stock? There ain't much difference in the man I want to be and the man that I really am.

Yes got it from Midwest gun works. Stock was from New Haven early 2000 production I think, it was finished non checkered drilled for sling studs and pistol cap. I had to get the sling studs and pistol cap. Took a chance as the M70 ranger was produced mid 80s and was hoping the in-letting would match. I had read that Winchester had 2 Featherweight barrel contours. The only difference between her ranger and a FW at that production was the cheaper wood and bottom metal. The stock barrel contour matched perfect and barrel was free floated .020" all the way without me having to sand it out. Got lucky I think. Edit to add the stock was inlet for a 1 piece floor plate hers was a 2 piece. P226 NSWG P220 W. German P239 SAS gen2 P6 1980 W. German P228 Nickel P365XL M400 SRP
