I would like to try reducing the length of pull and elevate the comb.

1) There isn't much room to reduce the stock length so all I can do is remove the OEM cushioned buttpad and substitute a narrower pad or (ouch) buttplate. Product suggestions?

2) Please suggest a stable add-on comb riser, hopefully with some cushioning.

There seems to be a few Monte Carlo styled 11-87 buttstocks available. I might go that route later if that's a good idea.

I have had many of my shotguns changed out butt pads to Pachmayer Decelerators, and some have had the stock cut to accommodate my length of pull and pitch angle.

If it were me, I’d buy the Monte Carlo stock and have it cut to the proper length and have the new buttpad installed. There is a fixture to help sand the buttpad to proper angle and follow the stock lines properly.

Cabelas sells a Triple K made leather cheek pad that raises the comb 3/4". It laces on and works pretty well. I use one on a Garand I scoped. If you do an internet search on shotgun cheek riser you will see lots of other options.

For shortening the stock, cutting the stock with a saw and refitting the pad is your best bet.

You can cut 1" off the 11-87 stock & use the oem pad or get a thinner one.
As you know the recoil system is inside the stock but there is 1" of space to shorten it.

Before you alter the original stock you can always look for a used 1100 Trap stock. It will fit the 1187.
