Sorry to say I haven't been able to shoot this rifle since 2014, and barrel was new at that time. Got it out today with FGMM 168s to see what I could do. I haven't done any precision shooting for about 3 years. Jon Wolfe did this rifle and it's his mod-fib stock, Armscorp NM receiver, Krieger DMR 18 inch barrel.

Old picture but same setup.

Warmed up at 50.

Covered up the 50 to shoot 100 on same target.

100 yards. The bottom of the middle orange is my last 10 rounds fired. Some of the cover ups on this came off from wind and impacts. Wind was not terrible. Nice day.

This is very encouraging to me. In the first couple outings with the rifle I couldn't get 5 rounds to do as good as I hoped. It's fouling up more now I think. Settling in. Also, max power was 9x so I could do a little better with 15-20x. The cover up stickers betrayed me a couple times, so it's not crystal clear what is what, but that 10 shots in the center are 1.5 edge to edge. The upper left is right at an inch edge to edge. Couple others in the 1.5 range on the edges.

The upper 2 groups have a cover up in the vicinity of the groups, but those were 1 off rounds I messed my holds up for. Group on the left was high so I held the dot under and it went higher. So that cluster above it is only 4 rounds. The upper right group the whole cover came off so that's from the 50, and also 4 rounds. The cover by that is another wrong hold by yours truly.

Looking good Pete! Things will tighten as you get reacquainted with your old love.

Jon's team builds good rifles. I know them both.

That looks great Pete! Nice shooting and a great rifle too. I need to get with it myself and have one built too. I've never had an M14 before they look great!

Thanks BB. Tell you what, there's never been a better time to build up an M14 than now. Not only the forged receiver options but barrels and parts are now more plentiful and cheaper than ever. Also more options with regard to stocks. You also have tonyben to do the work now too. Don't let him fool you though, he makes the shooting part look easy. Big Grin

Round 2

Not proud of this. I was rushing things today. I knew it going there, I knew it while I was doing it, and I couldn't stop myself. Wanted to get there and back, and also had too much caffeine from the morning workout right before. Setup at 100 and shot that first 5 high. Clicked the scope down and bam dead center for the next 5, although they migrated right. FGMM 168. The tightest group there that shot the pasty off is 168 grain AMAX from Dallas Reloads I got years ago. Not bad. Both bottom groups are that and then the top left is FGMM again. So I decided to shoot the 10 dots with the FGMM.

So they called the range cold every 20 mins, which I knew would present a challenge for this dot target. I honestly don't know what to do about the cold bore shot on this rifle cause I'm still learning it, and it matters on this target. I also am using a 3-9 Super Sniper, which is great for practicality but not for the dot drill. At Xmas I'll get my 15X on here. Enough excuses?

For me this shows what the rifle will hold when I'm sloppy and that's very encouraging. I was seeing a little blurry through my sunglasses and kinda lung sick and felt constantly low on oxygen. Don't really notice it until I'm behind the rifle trying to rest on a 1 inch dot. Good times.
