...so as not to allow Charlie to keel ya.

This film appears to be from mid-1967 or early 1968, as it shows the XM16E1 and the "new" M16A1.

The armorer will issue you your gallon bucket of LSA

Very interesting. Thanks for posting.

I know an employee of the National guard who told me a Sgt comes in and drops an old tee shirt and says to the group tear it up and clean the rifles.

They are not given any cleaning supplies just the tee shirt. The person doesn’t seem like a person to make this up.

I hope it’s not true.

Copious amounts of whale sperm.

Thank God for Breakfree and other advanced lubes, compressed air and solvent traps.

Timely reminder at the 8:30 mark; I'm out of pipe cleaners. Have been for some time. Don't tell the First Sergeant I'm not maintaining my piece per the tech manual.

Those steel uncoated cleaning rods that never seemed to damage the crown. I think I still have a couple of cleaning kits one 5.56 and one 7.62 for the M60.

The brother at 27:40 is really pleased when he pours a whole tube of Saigon Whore Lube® down the port and it starts smoking Charlie again.

It looks like everyone should just walk by a 55 gallon drum of lube and yank a rifle out.

This must be before they changed the powder over.

We cheated like champs in Camp Schwab!

The Boat Locker was next to our Motor Pool. We had a diesel steam cleaner / pressure washer for the boats & Hummers / Trucks / M-151's. It worked great for the weapons. You needed the big, thick elbow length rubber gloves so your skin wouldn't get torn off or burned. But damn those guns got clean, quick.
