Home Front Command reservists will switch from M16 rifles to the Micro Tavor in 2026, a move that will require additional training costing millions of shekels and has raised concerns among some reservists about readiness and safety during routine deployments
Thousands of reservists in the Israeli army's Home Front Command have recently been informed that in the first half of 2026 they will be required to switch to a new personal weapon: the Micro Tavor assault rifle. The change will replace the M16 rifles many of them have used for years...

patwThis has been going on for a while, as far as which was better for them. The X95 is a nice gun and is more compact than the M16 without losing barrel length. It also has it's weight closer to the body than the M16. IWI states the X95 is better in a dustier environment, like theirs but I am sure it has more to do with it's their gun,designed my them..
