I'm kinda liking how this looks.
Short and not overly heavy with a simple mount.

in the age of great 1-x optics what would be the usefulness of a 3-9?

Nice and short, and I like the reticle. Interesting.

I like that it has an integrated base, but it needs a quick attach method.

A more usable optic in that 3-9 range than a 1-9 would be. Not to mention a lot more affordable.

A lot of 1-X optics aren't a true 1X and handle differently than a true 1X red dot would. I could see this being useful to guys who would prefer a 3-9 with an RDS mounted for 1X heads-up shooting. A dedicated night vision gun could wear this to pretty useful effect, especially on SBR's with a bunch of the requisite NV shit out front at 12:00 and limited rail estate taken up with buttons and switches etc.

Is it for me? I dunno, but I could see some guys seeing this as a solution to their particular problem sets.

Integrated mount that uses a mini ACOG footprint.
Plenty of stuff out there for those if you want taller, shorter or a QD.

I believe MSRP was $1,050 for the scope and $1,400 for one with the red dot and mount.

Haven't seen one for sale that's in stock yet.

I have scopes with approximately 1× (zero) magnification at the bottom end, but how many of the people who will purchase this sight will need to engage in high speed room clearing and finish up with a hostage rescue shot at 7 yards? If someone needs that capability, there are plenty of options available, but for the vast majority of everyone else and intermediate range shooting, I can see the appeal of a scope like this. Plus, as indicated it does permit mounting a common no magnification optic for supplemental use. A good 3-9× is much easier and cheaper to design and build than a decent 1×-to something scope, and if its price will reflect that, what’s not to like? And if we don’t like it, don’t buy it.

This is interesting. To me, this is for the people using 2-3.5x Prism/ACOG style optics that gives them the OPTION for a little more mag for the far far stuff. Have an offset pistol dot for the close work and you have a different way to slice the pie for covering a 1-9x range.

I dig it. I do wish the mount had a bigger footprint though. A full-size ACOG-style would be appreciated. That's merely for aesthetics though, I suppose. The larger-than-a-mini-ACOG on that narrow stock of a mount looks odd to me. I am not in the market though, so whatever. I'd still consider it, if I was looking.
