Any experience with the CZ 527 FS?
Not sure why, but this rifle caught my eye.

I am looking at one chambered in .223.

Does anyone have one, or any thoughts about this particular rifle in this caliber?

Thank you.

I know of the 527, but not the FS part. Full Size? The ones I know of are more carbine-sized. In any case, I don't think you can go wrong with any CZ firearm, rifle or pistol. Every one I own or have owned has been good to outstanding.

I have one in 7.62x39. its a carbine. Like the rest of the CZ rifles I have (a whole bunch), its stellar for what it is and what it cost. I expect caliber isn't really an issue in these for comparison. mags are unique and sometimes the twist might be a bit limiting.
Should be happy with it, if it meets your needs. But if you have some specific criteria in mind post them and we can comment on those.

Edited to add, I'm not sure if this is a bargin you are finding, but I have been looking for a bolt .223 casually and a decent option is the Tikka T3x models.

I have a few CZ 527’s. Great rifles but to some the safety is awkward. As you probably know, they’re discontinued so prices have skyrocketed. One of my all time favorite rifles is a custom 527 American in .20 Tactical.

I own a CZ 527 American Classic in .223 and it's a very handy/accurate little rifle. Beside mounting a Leupold VXIII 4.5-14x40mm scope on it, I added a Timney trigger and it's a great shooter. I'm sorry to learn these have been discontinued.

"FS" as in "full stock", right?

I see that the FS means Full Stock, aka "Mannlicher" style. Images of CZ 527 FS I can see why it would catch your eye. This looks like a full-length rifle with a 22-24-inch barrel, in the "European" style. Don't waste time talking, snag it before somebody else does!

I always wanted a 527 in 7.62x39, but it wouldn’t take much for me to get one in .223.

I was looking at a 527 a couple years ago. I love CZ firearms, but two things concerned me. Magazines were unobtainable. Also, there was very little aftermarket support. Maybe things have changed, but those concerns turned me off at the time.

I went with a Tikka T3x Varmint in .223 and it’s been a great rifle.

I wanted a CZ550 FS in .308 but couldn't get the funds together before they dropped it from the lineup.

I'm not a fan of .223 but if you're OK with that, I'd grab it real quick!

As much as I like the CZ 527 (carbine and sporter in 7.62x39), I would never criticize anyone for preferring a Tikka.

I can't say anything about customer support for the 527 simply because I've never needed it.

Having said that, 527 magazines for all chamberings do seem to be plentiful at GB, and have popped up for me on the websites of a couple of other vendors in the past few years. They're something like $30 to $60 apiece.

I'll second that, I have never had any issues getting mags. and pricing has never been in the stratosphere either. Occasionally even from CZ itself (where as of yesterday they were in stock), but dozens of sources when I looked, in stock.
The .223 ones no idea. The gun really doesn't need much aftermarket help in my experience. Runs and does what it was suppossed to do. Threaded barrel would be my only complaint.

When I looked at them 2 or 3 years ago, mags were pretty scarce. Things have apparently changed since then, which is good!

Greg Cote's site shows factory 5-round mags in 7.62x39 and .223 caliber, $37.95.

Thank you for all of your input.

FS = Full Stock.

I did not win the one I was watching, but plan to keep looking.

Thanks again.

I have the Varmint model in .17 Hornet. Beautiful, accurate rifle. For 7.62 Soviet or .223 Remington, I went with Ruger so I could use AR / Mini-30 magazines.

I really wanted a lefty .223 527 and almost ordered one in late 2019 or early 2020. Then COVID happened and before I realized it they were unavailable.

The mini Mauser action is really cool. I think the twist was 1:12 or 1:9 so no long/heavy bullets.
