techguyNew Ruger Mini 14 accuracy?
Anybody know what kind of accuracy you can expect out of a new Ruger Mini 14 Tactical?

RogueJSKAccording to the Mini-14 accuracy testing by forum member "kkina", the old thinner-barrel Minis are ~4 MOA (~4" groups at 100 yards) and the new thicker-barreled Minis are ~2 MOA (~2" groups at 100 yards).
I haven't taken the time to shoot mine for serious groups, but mine shoots just fine for plinking purposes... Minute of softball or soda can at 75ish yards offhand. (Mine's just a range toy.)

bubbatimeFor what its worth, I am a ok shot, and I can shoot better groups from my newish Mini-14 than I have ANY AR15, using open sights.
I cant explain it. All I know is that if I HAD to make a head shot at 50-100 yards with open sights, I would grab the Mini-14 before anything else out of my safe.

Johnny 3eaglesMy Mini-14 (581 series) with a scope and bipod, 1 inch at 100 yards, easy.
Mine is also the Tactical version, using a Harris bipod.

BlackwaterI have a mini 14 Tactical in 300BO. Shot this 10rd group at a little less than 50 yards, OFF-HAND, relatively quick, with a Sparc 2 mounted on the rail. 2" circle. Ammo was 125gr Hornady American
With a nice low power scope/bi-pod, sand bags, I don't see why I couldn't get sub 1MOA, but that's not what I bought it for.
It will also shoot some sub sonic ammo without a suppressor attached and cycle perfectly.
The Mini 14 Tactical is the best one (accuracy) I've ever had. It's made me consider the Tactical 5.56 version also.
FWIW - the AAC Blackout flash hider improved accuracy over the stock birdcage FH.
