The Quiet Man |
My SCAR 17 normally runs a Nightforce 1-8, but I'll occasionally swap it out for an Aimpoint PRO. The mounts on both return to zero well enough that once I swap it only takes a handful of rounds to either confirm or re-zero as needed. I actually like the Eotech better on the SCAR, but my only Eotech is on a 300 blackout pretty much full time. I've got a Trijicon MRO. I'm not a fan. Distracting amounts of both paralax and fisheye around the edges. Plus it's green which has two distinct disadvantages for me. It eats batteries (even when off) and my eyes just seem to pick up red MUCH faster than green. My MRO has become the optic I put on a gun until I get an optic for that gun. I'm not generally a fan of the Chinese red dots, but I have a Primary Arms prism sight on an AUG that I actually like quite a bit. I might not trust it on a duty rifle, but my AUG isn't something I'm tossing in the work car at night. Now the optic that I do have on my serious use rifle is an Aimpoint Duty. Kind of the PRO equivalent for the Micro series. Super compact, super light, very clear (at least mine is) and with a crisp dot (even with my astigmatism). The battery life isn't as good as the other Aimpoints, but it's still better than Eotech and the new controls make the optic easy to turn on and off. For a gun as (lovingly) chunky as the SCAR though, it might feel too small. I know when I swap the PRO on in place of the LPVO, my 17 feels absolutely svelte. | |||
