hrayThe Model 70 Trio. Prepping for general gun.
Ga.'s general gun starts in a few weeks and for Christmas I put new scopes on my daughters 270s. All three Model 70s now wear the same glass. Took them to the range today and sited in the 2 and confirmed zero on mine. 100 yard zero, I think we're good to go.
Left to right Oldest daughter's M70 Ranger mid 80s, youngest daughter's M70 mid 90 Classic sporter, My M70 FW 2022. All in 270
Ranger M70 with Federal 150G sierra game king
Classic M70 with 150G Win powerpoint last 3 shots after tweaking in the red,
My Featherweight with 150G powerpoints confirmed zero no tweaking needed.

sprg03-A3Nice set of Model 70s. I really had the itch to buy a Featherweight in 270 also, after buying a couple Supergrade Maple rifles last year, in 270 and 30.06. I found one that I checked out last weekend. Was very nice, but the 30.06 that was there also had a beautiful stock, and it followed me home. It is a bit of a thumper, especially compared to the Browning X Bolt 2 with the Recoil Hawg muzzle brake on it that I had also just picked up. Bolt is very smooth and the trigger is amazing, although a bit on the heavy side at about 4.5lbs.
The Winchester Model 70 is a beautiful, well engineered classic rifle. Good luck on your upcoming hunt!

You can adjust it down some. I took a BBQ lighter to the epoxy over adjustment screw and popped it off. I think I got it down to 3.5. Then I put an Ernie the gun smith spring in all three. They all break at 2.5.

Thanks for the information and the link. I am aware that the trigger is adjustable and that there are springs available for the trigger. Haven’t decided what I am going to do with it yet, if anything. The trigger is very crisp with no discernible movement at all, so it is still easy to shoot well.

I have a 1950’s era 70 in 30-06 and I was gifted a 2000’s era super grade 25-06 a decade or so ago.
There was a customer who came into my buddies shop who collected them. Had 7mm mauser carbines and other rare versions.

bustabuddyI just put a scope on a recently acquired 70 chambered in .270 from 1956. Looking forward to hunting with it this season. Found a BAR in .243 last week at a show for my g'daughter and scoped it yesterday.

YellowJacketI have been carrying my Dad's Model 70 Classic (1997?) in 7 mag a good bit the last few years. It wears a Zeiss scope and is my best rifle/glass combo for low-light and distance shooting (not that I shoot at much distance.) I killed a doe with it last year and hunted with it last Saturday. I also have well over 100 rounds of handloads for it so that's another reason I'm using it.
I also have a made-in-SC featherweight in 243 that I love but it is currently scopeless until I find something I want to put on it. I've got plenty of deer rifles and have to pick and choose each year.
