Super ShooterThey are nice and work well, the IR flood is not as nice as the DBAL D2, but it is a fine piece. Ensure you read the manual for zeroing, also TNVC has some good laser zero targets.

hrcjonWhat help would be useful? Using it for ir illumination is not useful, get a dual head surefire. Visible I don't think is useful. But the IR side otherwise its fine.

bolo4tomthanks guys. we didn't use these when I was in the military. I know theyre a good piece of kit, was mainly wondering about retaining zero when taken on/off and how much real world IR illumination the illuminator gives off?? thanks again

gw3971I went with the I2. Decided the light options were better with other flashlights.
Sighting these things in is a bit of a pain. I like these targets to help.

If you haven’t spent the money yet, research the MAWL and PERST-3. They are usually named as having the best illuminators.

I just finished a super epic/long thread about the Perst and for the money I don't think it can be beat. Absolutely nothing wrong with the dbal, not knocking it at all, its rock solid.

US_P225I had a DBAL A2 with my PVS-14s in Iraq many years ago. It worked fine; illuminated what I needed. I've had a PEQ-15 issued with PVS-23s since and can't say one illuminator performed better than the other. Never heard of those other two listed.

bolo4tomthanks guys. I picked up the DBAL A2 yesterday and just messing around with it, it has surpassed my expectations... so far. as for zeroing, when I zero the red dot the IR is automatically zeroed to the same spot, so should be pretty easy.

bolo4tomI went back and reviewed those other models listed and they seem to be pretty solid pieces but im happy with the DBAL

JimineerNot to get off the DBAL topic but what about Night vision? Is there a good thread on night vision? You obviously like the PVS 14. Do either require factory maintenance long term?
