If you had a Mega Maten receiver set and you were considering building it into a 6.5 Creedmoor target rifle, what barrels would you put at the top of your list? A lot of folks speak very highly of JP barrels and they come with a head-spaced bolt. For about the same money, Fulton Armory has heavy contour Krieger barrel that might be better for me as I will have to shoot suppressed. It does not come with a bolt. It looks like I could get a Bartlein barrel but not direct. Any other barrels you would put on the short list? Thank you, HenryrifleThis message has been edited. Last edited by: henryrifle,

I'd see if you can find a smith to build a barrel with a Bartlein blank, or look at Krieger. https://kriegerbarrels.com/products#ar10

The big three would be JP, Kreiger and Lothar-Walther that come profiled for an AR. Now getting a smith to spin you a barrel to AR profile may be cost prohibitive.

I don't have a 6.5 but I have several Rainier Arms Ultra Match Barrels in a variety of calibers ~ all good barrels, and accurate.

I have now built a 7mm-08 and a .243 AR10 with X-Caliber barrels in the 20" SPR profile and have another 7mm-08 in 18" light profile in progress. The first two are shooting very well for the owner, well under 1" at 100 with just initial testing loads. http://www.x-caliber.net/ar-10 This is the photo he just sent me of the first time shooting with .243 with 80grn varmint loads. The 7mm-08 he's had for a while was shooting better IIRC. ________________________________________________________________________________________________
