Lt CHEGRainy day AR lower stocking (LaRue and others)
I’ve been working a lot of OT lately in this new gig, and while I know I won’t be working here or like this forever, I’m wanting to tend to a few hobbies. I want to stock up on a few AR stripped lowers for a rainy day. I may build one here and there over the next few years, but I also want to have a few to spare for the here and now. I think I’m going to pick up 2 LMT MARS-L fully ambidextrous lowers. I really like LMT products, love the looks of these lowers and kinda dig the functionality even if I don’t really NEED it. I will probably build one and put one away. I also want to pick up a couple M16 cut lowers, and I’ve found two Geissele super duties that I’ll probably pick up for that purpose. Yeah, they’re pricey, but they are cool, top quality, and like I said, I really want 2 M-16 cut and not just low shelf receivers. I’m also thinking about picking up a couple LaRue stripped lowers. Again, I know there’s a definite price premium but I do like the look of billet receivers, and I could see adding a PredatOBR upper or one of their other precision uppers down the road, so would like at least one fully matching upper and lower LaRue combo.
Altogether, I’m thinking about what stripped lowers to pick up. I definitely want a couple MARS lowers, and at least one LaRue for a build, but anyone else with some suggestions for nice builds down the road? Is it worth buying more than 1 LaRue lower, or would you only use them for a dedicated LaRue upper? I don’t like the gimmicky markings of a lot of lowers, so tend to stick to the established brands. I prefer low shelf receivers (I do realize the LMT MARS lowers aren’t but I can love with that for two of them), and really prefer the M-16 cut when I can get them, but I also don’t generally prefer no name manufacturers either. So the two questions are for good receiver recommendations in general, and whether I should spring for more than 1 LaRue lower? Thanks hive for the opinions.

CD228If you are in the FT Drum area, you can check out my LaRue lower. Unfortunately, It's moded to New York State Compliance (FUAC). I've got a BCM upper on it right now. That said I don't find the LaRue lower to be magic, but it is well made. The Larue Trigger is very nice.

Lt CHEGFor what it’s worth, I’ve ordered 2 Geissele Super Duty stripped lowers and 2 Sons of Liberty Gunworks stripped lowers. I might add 2 more or so, but I’m happy with what I’ve ordered at this point. I’ll probably end up with a LaRue at some point, but what I have on order and will pick up within a week should prove to be pretty top notch.
