SigM4Need Sporting Clays shell bag(s) recommendation
Got invited to a charity sporting clays shoot at the end of the month and in anticipation I was going through my stuff. Realized that the old cheapy Cabela’s branded shell bag/belt I’ve used for ever might be at the end of its useful life.
Anyone have an recommendations for a belt/bag combo that won’t break the bank? I shoot a couple of times a year so I’m not looking for pro grade here, just something that’ll serve me well and be comfortable.

Flash-LBMost Sporting Clays events are 100 birds, therefore 4 boxes of shells and I can't see you carrying that on a belt.
I use plain old generic shooting bags I pick up at gun shows that cost around $15.00/each.

And I’d never try to carry that on a belt. But often times depending on the course they’ll have stations clustered in 2-4 stations such that several shooting positions are very near each other. The though being when you get to a cluster you start with a fresh box and can make it through without having to refill your pockets.

Scooter123If you shoot a 28 gauge or 410 carrying 100 rounds is quite easy. Yes there are those out there who shoot Sporting Clays with a 28 gauge. In terms of effectiveness the 28 loaded with 7/8 ounce loads is a match for the 20 gauge and actually rather close to the 12 gauge. As much as I hate to come even in the area of endorsing them I do have a Bass Pro double pouch that will hold 100 rounds of 28 with ease and a shooting vest or plastic bag for the fired hulls is easy to carry.

I shoot Sporting Clays with a 20 gauge loaded with 3/4 oz. of shot, same as a 28 gauge from stations 1 thru 12, then with a .410 from stations 12 to 1, but only if they're within 40 yards for the .410.

heavydBelow is what my gun club sells. I’ve used one a few times. It will last you a lifetime if you only shoot a couple times a year.

smithbcI just use a small back pack to carry the 100 rounds in. If you don't shoot sporting clays that offten, just go to WalMart and get a shell bag for your side.

That's all I use for sporting clays. For a shell pouch, my cheapo
Allen has been great. Holds 50 +/- 28ga shells.
