There are times in your life that you really kick yourself in the ass.

Back in the late 80s, my brother (a mechanical engineer) and I considered trying to patent and market a rifle scope with a built-in laser rangefinder.

We decided it would be too much trouble and too costly.

Oh well. Back to work.

speaking of lost ideas, while I was in engineering school I toyed with the idea of how to make the cabin of a car completely noise cancelling - active technology which was just getting started. Was working out the electrical power requirements and computers when I found out that if I did anything, the school owned it and I wouldn't get a dime....so I stopped

Circa 2007 when I still lived in Phoenix, I went to the Scottsdale Fashion Square and happened upon a Swarovski crystal store. I was disappointed to not see any rifle scopes. You know you're a gun nut firearms enthusiast when that happens.

That happened to me, I ended up buying my wife a little fish broach.
