Thanks. Yeah, when I got it, it had a shitty SA, Inc repro handguard. I picked up a USGI slotted handguard from Fred's (remember Fred's?) Looks much better.

Bishop stock with BM-59 Alpine hardware. The rifle also comes with a full flash hider, minus the bayonet lug, which had to be removed because it would interfere with the gas plug. I like the shorty FH better.
TRW bolt and internals, and an M1 Garand lockbar rear sight drum.

The rifle has a production date of September, 1982. I set out to buy one of these back then, but the FFL I used talked me into this instead.

I didn't get my M1A-A1 until the year 2000.

The 3K price- I had that in mind when I started thinking about selling this rifle about three years ago, and now, prices have gone through the roof. You may be correct that it will go for more than that. SA, Inc didn't produce a lot of these rifles, not in this configuration anyway.

OH so this is an M1A-A1. I've heard about it don't think I ever put that together that this was the configuration. Getting an education here.

I know every young buck, myself included who just gets an M1A ends up calling it an M1A1 for no good reason, before getting corrected by some salty old Marine, who then has to make sure to point out there was a rifle long ago in the wild from SA called the M1A-A1. Big Grin

I got a slotted handguard from Fred's couple years ago. 9 bucks. Little spray paint good as new. Fred is the man.

If i had 3k cash you would have an email in your box. That is an amazing-looking rifle. It would not surprise me if it went for more in an auction.

Posted in the "Bargains and Deals" section of the M14 forum.

Sorry I don't have the cash to buy these myself. If you don't dump these by the summer, I can probably help sell these after my Florida move when I'm closer to Georgia.

We should be Floridians by the 4th of July.

parabellum - I'm interested in purchasing the barrel if you're ready to sell. I sent an e-mail to your webmaster@sigforum address.

The barrel is on hold for someone who almost certainly is going to buy it. It will be a face-to-face sale, which I strongly prefer, but he is out of town for the next few days. If the sale falls through, there's already a waiting list. Barrel price is 500.

The rifle is 3400 dollars and at this point, I feel that's a conservative price.

Thanks for all the interest.

I do have another barrel, a TRW take-off, in the white. Someone stripped the finish. No corrosion, rifling looks good to me and there are no dings on the muzzle threads. 300 bucks for that barrel. I don't have a barrel gauge, so this would be best for a face-to-face sale.

Glad to hear you found a buyer. He contacted me and described the build. Looks like it's going be a sweet rifle. It's going on a forged GWLA receiver.

Well, if the wife has her way, I'll end my days in Florida, too. She wants to be close to her mom and her sister.

And then, there's this, which will probably go, too:

I'm thinking that's 3K worth of rifle. What do you think, Pete?

lovely,

I have that stock, never mounted it,
do I have a 18" barrel as well,
thought of putting the barrel on my M14 (converted M1A) and stock, and taking the barrel etc from the M14 and putting it on another receiver,

that barrel BTW, on my M14 is a Barnett Med Weight, circa early 80's

very low mileage (I rarely shoot that gun) and the rifle is build to 1968 match standards,

Pete is correct on the barrel you have Para,

the retro crowd would likely go bonkers for a documented new Barnett,

Snipershide would probably be a good place to drop a hint if anyone is a member,

congrats on your sale,

speaking of dropping names from the past,

Reese Surplus,
they were affiliated in some way with SA, (seems a lot of the Il gun crowd was related ) and had a pile of M14 and BM59 parts,

lusted after a Nigerian BM59 stock they listed that was adapted for the M14,

never did buy one, dammit
