Bills all paid, CC's are up to date. Couple bucks in the bank. Not enough for both. Which would you go for?

I have no experience with a Tavor. But I have had aug’s for years now. I absolutely love them, they are small and easy to move around and shoot well. Steyr has incredible customer service from my experience. I really love mine and now with the top rail different optics can be used. So I would go for the Aug and love it.

Having both, the Tavor (assume you mean X95, not the original SAR) seems to have many advantages. Better trigger, especially with aftermarket triggers like the Geissele or Shooting Sight. Takes standard AR mags (AUGs can be had with their NATO stock, which uses AR mags, but I’m not sure they have a BHO). Better safety. I also believe that the Tavor is a bit cheaper.

Both have decent aftermarket support. Neither is a particularly good suppressor host as they come. For the Tavor, about all you can do is seal off the gas leakage paths (opposite side ejection port and where the rear of the top rail meets the stock), or use a very low backpressure suppressor like a Huxwrx. You can’t adjust the gas. At least with the AUG you can buy suppressor gas plugs from Steyr, and I believe KNS is coming out with an adjustable regulator soon.

A nice feature of the AUG is how easy it is to change out the barrels, so you can swap lengths and calibers. Barrel swaps on the Tavor are a lot more involved. The AUG may also be a little more accurate.

All that said, I think I’d rather have the AUG if I could only choose one. It’s a classic design.

My stash:

AUG A3 w/Corvus Defensio extended mag release and ejection case deflector, Manticore Arms switchback charging handle, Rat worx 20/20 sear.

Tavor X95 w Manticore Arms curved buttpad, Optimus forend, and switchback charging handle, MI ejection port cover, IWI traditional pistol grip, Geissele trigger pack.

Based on my experience AUG. The history is great, Steyr is great and keeps updating stuff. and despite IWI probably being a good company they don't seem to do well in support overall.

Have never had my hands on an Aug, so it'd be the Tavor, from handling a few [but no trigger time with either].

I've never seen an AUG in class but I have seen several Tavors. None have made it through a day without an issue.

Depends on how many AR mags you have as the NATO AUG drops several features like bolt release and left side ejection. You'll also probably need a larger bolt handle if you want to HK slap your AUG if you get the NATO stock.

But if you don't mind buying new mags, there's nothing quite like an AUG.

Easy choice. Pick the sexy one. Tavors can be good, but boring.

I have both the standard and NATO stock for mine; it always wears the standard one. Lots of other upgrades, too. I tend to do that to everything I own.

I own and have shot a load of bullpups.. I'm a fan. If you're buying a Tavor, it's the X95..

If you're only buying one bullpup, my recommendation would be an RDB-S. The X95 is also a great choice. How about a "Hellion?"

If I go by feel... all day any day it's an AUG.

People will complain about all kinds of things, the major one with the aug is the trigger, because of the original design it is "squishy." My A3 is stock, and I don't take great issue with the trigger.

Cue the "why not both" meme. They're both great, I think I promised a bullpup head-to-head at some point.. Some day I'll do that.

Edited to add... White AUG stocks are hot, and I'd get a nato pack if I din' have these other 'pups that took stanag

Arc.

Another vote here for the Aug. I have absolutely no experience with the Tavor, but I carried an Aug for years and was impressed by its reliability and accuracy as well as its compact size.

I had both the Tavor X95 and an AUG. Nothing really wrong with the X95, it just didn’t care for it. Sold it and kept the AUG. Get the NATO model and magazines are a nonissue.

I'd forgotten about the RDB. Don't think I've ever seen one in person, locally.
It'd be the RDB Defender for me, the massive irons on the S looks a bit goofy, IMO and it would get some form of RDS or LPVO.

Given what I've seen in the past for 'street' price, I'd expect most RDB to be around $500-800?
IIRC, the KSG has a MSRP around a grand & I've seen them on the shelf for $6-700 NIB.

I've never been a fan of Keltec kit, but, after running across a post about the RDB on X and spending some time following it up with a bit more research I think I'd actually have to give the RDB a look.

I'd probably be inclined toward the RDB Defender.

In fact: Given that a bullpup is one of the things missing from my collection and I've long thought about acquiring one: A Keltec RDB Defender could well be my next firearm acquisition.

Only thing is: One review nicked it for not being terribly accurate?

I lightly modded mine.
That dumb front sight comes off, to a standard thread that will take a can, or in my case a "forward gas director." I called and asked for the standard handguard.

It's a really nice compact non-nfa

So a slight thread drift but has anyone tried Desert Tech’s WLVRN? It’s a significant redesign of the MDR.

I have a few friends who have Tavors and all of them have expressed regretting it. I guess the resale value isn’t great and at least of them feel like they’d take a bath if they tried to offload them. This would be the X95. I don’t know anyone personally who went with the Aug who felt like they made a mistake. Of the 5.56 bullpups, that is the one to beat, and I say that as a fan of the FS2000.

The X95 is a fine gun, but when it comes to "feel," it's the AUG.
It's one of those things where, despite all the kvetching, we all know it's right. Like the Mp5.
Oh, those Austrians.
