Hope there are still 556R owners around. I searched but did not find much. It looks like the Magpul MOE AKM mags are good to go, but what about the M3 version with the metal lug? My 556R is a gen 2, with the steel mag shelf insert. Thanks! ____________________________ "War is more delightful to those who have never experienced it." - Erasmus

I'll see if I can remember to try when I get home tonight. IDPA ESP SS

worst case is you need to fit it but filing the lug. This is a good thing because a tight fit = no wobble

Just tried it. Certainly a tight fit, no wobble. Takes a little doing to lock in, certainly not going to be a speedy mag change like with a steel mag or the Bulgy slab sides I usually use. IDPA ESP SS

Not saying you can’t make it work. But I never got circle10 or Magpul to run to my satisfaction asis “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

Gen2 - locks in place like any other AK mag and runs with No issues here.

I’ve got a SiG P556 762Xi/SBR’d and The Tapco’s fit fine, my Circle 10 waffles ’s don’t fit either but I’ve got some Slab-sides and I’ll have look when I get home as it seems like they are circle 10 and they fit fine. If you really want something you'll find a way ... ... if you don't you'll find an excuse. I'm really not a "kid" anymore ... but I haven't grown up yet either ![]()
