WeshoweM-14 Day at the range 3-15-24
Gents,
Today was a wonderful day at the range here in Oregon's beautiful Willamette Valley. Temperature was about 65 degrees under cloudless skies. A perfect range day.
I took several of my M-14's and my G.A. Precision "Rock" bolt gun. All chambered in .308.
Here they are in the ranges' rack. Left to right is my LRB "Super-Stocker", "Shorty" my Scout length LRB rifle, and the "Rock":
As a secondary reason for shooting was to acquaint my good friend Woody, to the M-14 rifle, as he has never had the pleasure of shooting one.
The picture is him, at the bench with the "Super-Stocker". I named the rifle because it looks like a normal M-14, but is fully tricked out. Krieger medium match barrel all put together by our incomparable Tony Ben (Benny 6) when he lived in Oregon. Then it was sent to Ted Brown for match conditioning. All in all it's a real "sleeper". By the way I can recommend Ted's work and Tony's without reservations.
Last is a new picture of the "Rock". Built by G.A. Precision it is my "go to" bolt gun in .308 Winchester. Damn, the lads at GAP do nice work:
Overall, the trip was a great success. Woody is thoroughly hooked on the M-14 and plans on building a LRB based rifle later this year. Afterword, we stopped by the Washington Streed Steak House and had a prime rib lunch. What a day. Good guns, good friends, and good food...it just doesn't get any better.
Semper Fi,
Wes

got2hav1Whenever I see a M14 it reminds me of my brother and this picture. Vietnam 1965 with M14. Made it back after being wounded and lived to be 74 before liver cancer took him.
