Side saddles live on my pump-action guna (Mesa Tactical 6-round jawns). My short 870 is cruiser-safe with 5 rounds, so 11 rounds in/on the gun. Half on the side are slugs if I need to select-load. As a vestigial tail from my working days, there's a chest rig hanging near the safe with 24 more, a "Micro rig" from a popular but thoroughly douchebag multiple-time convicted felon. I wish there were more competitors with the same design/functionality. Oh, there's an additional box of 00B and one of Slugs in the "admin" pouch on the rig, so a total of 34. After 45 rounds if I'm still in a fight, I'll have to get creative. Velcro cards: Tried 'em on work guns, abandoned pretty quickly. My guys were having inconsistent experiences with the elastic loops on either end of the temperature spectrum (kept loaded in hotter-than-balls cars= bad, hanging around outside in sub-freezing, also bad.) YMMMV if you're not dealing with that dynamic any more. We repurposed them to duty in active shooter bags, where they were better organizers than just having shells loose in outer pockets.

On my 590S I went with one of those mounted side saddle. Didn't like the added weight after I finished doing my thing to it. Purchased a 1301 and weight savings was top priority. Went with a Vang Comp systems carrier with extra cards purchased through LTT and have been happy with it.
