Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.

Looking for an A2 optic mount I saw in a magazine a while back but can't recall the name of it.
Mounts to the top of the handle then drops down in front then turns and runs level (more or less) with the barrel.
I did a search at the time but was not able to find any in stock.

A mind is a terrible thing to lose!

Not as easy to find as they were a couple decades ago, but they're still out there.

A quick Google turned up these options, though I can't speak to quality.

If you are talking about the ones the .MIL guys used to mout M68s (aimpoints) to M16A2s, they called it a gooseneck. The ones that Rouge linked match the description.

What optic are you mounting on it? I don't recall anyone really loving that mounting solution. I'd hate for you to drop the dollars and find out the mount dosen't do what you want.

I have an older A2 Rock River that I bought used in 2004 that I want it for.
Still not sure what optic, have a Sig Romeo 5 that might be used for a starter.

The Romeo is an RDS like the Aimpoint. Should be ok. I just wanted to make sure you weren't going to try and point an ACOG or something on it.

I had seen that item on Del-Ton's website perhaps a year or two ago; and was thinking of getting one. But I didn't see it this morning while searching again. The pic and price as the item in Rogue's first link were very similar to it.

I have an original Aimpoint gooseneck that the Air Force used in training.

I have thought about putting an optic on it, but I have found the carry handle mount better as it gets the front sight post out of the way.

I found it. I just dont use it as it's for a red dot.

They are all over gunbroker. Just look for Aimpoint Gooseneck.

The only sight I use that has batteries is my thermal.

It is discontinued, but you might look at the ARMS 39: https://armsmounts.com/shop/mounts/r-m-s-39-a2-plus/

VentureSurplus is a trustworthy store. And a google search should turn up a coupon code.
