Thanks for that bit about the Dutch. One can only wonder why and how such decisions are made. Not that I can think of a reason why it's wrong, but it does seem odd. “I don’t want some ‘gun nut’ training my officers [about firearms].” — Unidentified chief of an American police department. “I can’t give you brains, but I can give you a diploma.” — The Wizard of Oz This life is a drill. The target market for a 260 Remington cartridge was already saturated with popular effective calibers people already owned. The initial commercial ammo offerings were nothing more than low end weekend blasting grade ammo, and for reloaders it took a while for quality brass to become avilable. Hornady's marketing is second only to their ability to make said marketed ammo available. They advertise it, you can buy it. They also tell you the bullet weight and velocity, so you've already got a starting point for reloading. I have one 6.5C rifle and its a joy to shoot. _____________________________ 'I'm pretty fly for a white guy'.

My first built from scratch with components sourced by me was a 260 Remington. This was early 2009 and there wasn't a lot of 6.5x47 Lapua ammo on the market, if any. Also the 6.5 Creedmoor was relatively new to market. I really made my choice based on ammo and brass availability at the time and also this article by Demigodllc king of pushed me into it. At the time, and really still, my reloading skillset didn't offer enough to see wringing any of the cartridges out more than another, so funding and availability of ammo were my prime factors. I now have two in .260 remington, one built on a Remington 700 action and Bartlein Barrel finished a 26" and a Larue large frame AR with a 22" barrel. Haven't loaded a single round for them yet but have plenty of cases, powder and several different bullets to play with. Probably gonna take the plunge this fall when cooler weather and time allows. So far both guns prefer the 130 SMKs in Prime Ammo and the 130 Hybrid OTM in Berger factory ammo. Federal Gold Medal with 142 SMKs don't seem to perform as well in the Larue gas gun, but they do ok in the Bolt action, might be a factor of barrel length. I enjoy the heck out of both guns though. _____________________________________________ Never use more than three words to say "I don't know"

In 22LR L is the 7th digit in the alphabet & R is the 13th So maybe the 22LR was originally the 22713 but it was too long and confusing ... as would be the 22LAC, so the 22LR was born with the 3 odd digits concealed but subliminally people recognized it and “A Star was Born” (not the movie, the bullet) What about that? (I realize it’s a stretch) If you really want something you'll find a way ... ... if you don't you'll find an excuse. I'm really not a "kid" anymore ... but I haven't grown up yet either
