Sling recommendation for M14?
Hi all,

I am acquiring my first M14. Smile Details will be forthcoming. It is a traditional M14 with walnut stock and 22" barrel. I am looking to purchase a good quality leather sling. Something in the M1907 style or similar, but I'd like it to be already broken in or at least easy to break in.

I've mainly been looking at the Turner National Match Sling, but they are about a 6-month wait currently. I was considering the Turner All-Weather sling as well. Any experience with those? Other options I considered are the Langlois Rhodesian Sling, Wilderness Cleckner Cuff Sling, or even a BFG Vickers Sling (which I have on my AR).

What other in-stock options might you suggest? I don't need anything fancy. It's just for ease of carrying mainly and looks. I'm not a competition shooter. But I'd prefer leather.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Chris

For a stock type M14 platform rifle the M1907 and the GI web sling are where it's at IMO.

Plenty of GI surplus late production M1907 slings out there if you don't want to wait for a Turner (super nice/helpful guy).

For a nice match grade 1907 style sling look at what Ron Brown offers. Premium leather...he even offers a camo pattern. Prices run from $75 to about $115 for the camo pattern. Ron learned how to make slings from Les Tam.

VERY nice. Search Ron Brown Slings.

Turner is your best bet. Les Tam is a 2+ year wait, but my friend (who's a close friend of Les Tam) is supposed to be visiting him in HI and learning the trade as well. He got me a LT heavy Marine Corps sling in 6 weeks or so.

if you need one now, the competitor sling Brownell's offers is a good sling, but it will stretch a bit,

the Turner's are fantastic

I have a Bioprene or whatever Turner calls the all weather/synthetic sling , used it a few matches and stopped, I prefer a leather sling,

I have a BFG VCAS on the M14. Understand that it will require a set of front and rear adapters if you want to use it along the side of the rifle, like you would on an AR:

If you want a M1907 leather sling, get a Turner second. All the quality, for a fraction of the price.

Where can I get the adapters? I need one for my SOCOM.

IIRC, I got these from Specter Gear. But that was several years ago.

BFG makes a rear adapter: https://www.blueforcegear.com/...ttstock-adapter.html

I don't see them listing a front like RougeJSK has.

Thanks for the recommendations. It sounds like Turner is the way to go for leather. I guess I'll just order and wait. Perhaps I'll post a WTB here for something used in the meantime.

Thanks for the Fulton Armory links. I did see those earlier. Unfortunately all leather slings are sold out.

if you just need a make do type sling,
I have a few older commercial copy types of the USGI leather sling,

nothing fancy, just some used stuff from some estates I picked up,

shoot me an email, and I'll send you a pic or 2, and one to play with if you like

Thank you for the offer, lyman. I actually just ordered a Champions Choice Service Rifle Sling. I'll see how that works out, and let you know if I'm looking for an alternative. Thanks again.
