Just skimmed an article about the newer 22 Creedmoor, basically a necked down 6.5 case. The ballistics they mention include an 80 grain bullet going almost 3300 fps. I couldn’t help but compare that to an 80 grain bullet in a 243, averaging at or over 3300 fps. Yes, I have some oddball cartridges, but I’m also slightly in the curmudgeon camp. The article mentions how the 22 Creedmoor could be the ultimate predator cartridge? I’m a big fan of the 22-250, if I want to shoot 80’ish grain bullets, the 243 gets the nod. I know, new sales are desired by manufacturers, incentives to the writers. I feel the same about the 224 Valkyrie, which seems to be waning. If Santa brought you a 22 Creed for Christmas, that’s all fine. If so, I’d setup to reload the cartridge.

I have had a 22 creed for a long time. I had a barrel chambered for it when reamers first became available a few years ago. I don’t think it will ever catch on commercially, but it will bump along as a fairly popular niche caliber. For killing small game without destroying the pelts a fast 22 that uses the heaviest bullets with the highest bcs while also being easy to find good shooting loads with will always be popular with some. But a 6 creed or even a 243 is nearly as good, so for most the 22 creed will not be worth the effort, but if you enjoy developing loads and have coyotes to slay why not?

It is a very interesting cartridge that I have had my eye on as well. From all I have seen it is very comparable to the 22-250 especially the AI version. I still might get one. A couple links to compare: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVyQFBlgTkA&t=465s and

I do have a fair amount in the medium uncommon category, 284 Win, 6.5 Swede, 8mm Label, & similar, so I’m no stranger to sourcing ammo & components. I also agree it would be boring if we all carried a Savage 110 in 30-06. Anyway, I’ve been trying to limit any new cartridges, even sold my one 204 Ruger rifle. I have a bunch of 223’s, then 2 in 22-250, those 204 cases blend in with the 223. A few of the newer rounds catch on, others languish.
