What do we think of this red dot sight? WENT WITH DIFFERENT ONE
Leupold DeltaPoint Pro w/AR mount

It would go on a Ruger LC Carbine, a 16" barreled PCC, but having the magazine in the grip, not much bigger than a pistol. What intrigues me the most is the motion sensor on/off switch. Just the normal motion of picking up the gun is supposed to activate it; 5 minutes of no use/motion turns it off. There appears to be no other switch.

Actual purchase, if any, won't happen for a while.

The DPP is an alright optic, although it doesn't really stand out in the marketplace and there's a lot of much better stuff out there in a similar price range. If shakeawake is your priority, there's a ton of options out there that offer that, including many that do it for a lot less money.

Yup, lots of shake awake RDS out there. But for me, it’s just one unnecessary additional thing that can malfunction on you. And at the most inoppotune time. For $500, I would consider the Aimpoint Duty RDS.

I have the DeltaPoint on my Kuna, I really like it, it is a bit more but I would buy another. I am not sure of the battery life on this optic, this one is at my office and sits in the corner.

Not necessarily. My priorities are a compact size proportionate to the gun, and ease of turning on/off/adjusting. It matters little how this is accomplished. I have a sight for it now that is the former, but not the latter (little tiny, stiff buttons that almost need a tool to depress). If I took the size requirement out of play, I could just get another Aimpoint ACO, which has been fine on an AR and is a C-note less to boot.

Well, if ease of turning on and off is a priority (which I understand, I hate those little buttons) you might take a look at the new Trijicon MRO. It would be in your price range, it's a Trijicon so the build quality and ruggedness is there and I believe the new ones don't suffer from the parallax issues that plagued the older ones.

One downside is that it may be a little larger than you want, but I find large windows a plus when using a dot.

The Aimpoint another poster recommended does look pretty interesting as an option.

For that money or less than $100 more if you want a pistol-sized optic, I'd go Trijicon RMR or SRO. If you're looking to save some dollars, a Sig Romeo 1 Pro uses the same footprint as the DPP, has shake-awake, and is pretty much its equal in performance and quality. The newer Romeo X is even better (albeit with a smaller window), and still likely available for less than the price you linked on that DPP. There are also a number of good options from Holosun out there that would be even cheaper.

Check with forum member DaBigBR. He's become my go-to guy for optics and can probably point you in the right direction, and maybe even hook you up with a good deal on something that will work.

When considering Leupold optics, I think it's always important to remember that they are US-made.

There is value in that.

RMRs are as well. I am fairly certain Sig sights are not.

I got a chance to physically see the Leupold sight. I felt it was well suited for a handgun, but too small for a long gun. A Holosun 510C has been ordered from Greg Cote. The shipping on such purchases is free, even if other items are included with the order.

I like mine very much . Purchased it as a refurbished model and works very well. Have transferred it to several different pistols , cross bow and now on a Henry lever action rifle.
