gpbst3Back up AR dilemma: Sons of Liberty, BCM or PSA
I currently only have one AR. I know its a real problem, right! I want to suppress my current 11.5" AR but before I start I think I need a back up.

I have it narrowed down between 3 options. Sons of Liberty M89 13.7" $1375, cosmetic blem BCM MK2 14.5" $1055 or a simple PSA 16" $579. These options and pricing are for complete barebones rifles.

This rifle will probably see less than 500 rounds a year. Of course I have no other plans for it other than a back up.Which one?Sons of Liberty $1375BCM blemished $1055PSA $579

old rugged crossSounds like you are considering a pistol.
I guess I would say the blem out or your choices. The PSA is also a good choice on a budget.

hrcjonJust me but I have trouble helping on these kinds of questions if you don't at least provide some clues on what's important to you.

SIG228That's a smoking deal on the SOLGW, and it's even their upgraded rifle from Forward Control Design and completely ambidextrous. Normal price is $1,949.00. I just had to put new tires on my truck so I'm broke or I'd be ordering one. Damn, why'd I have to go looking!...lol

It’s hard to pass up but the extra money could pay for the optic.

It’s hard for me to say what this rifle could end up doing. As you helped in my other post it’s most likely never going to see a suppressor and will most likely be a in case shit happens rifle.
It will just get a red dot and a light.

BisleyblackhawkI have a PSA Freedom AR mid-length gas and after approximately 1500 rounds it’s been flawless (I did replace the trigger with a RRA National Match…under a hundred bucks right after I picked it up)…for the money it’s been a fantastic buy IMHO (I highly recommend the mid-length gas system no matter which AR you choose)…from what I understand there is a slight tax break if you order a lower separate the upper…maybe the members can shed some information.

CEShooterAs a back up, I would go with the BCM. For a backup, I like the concept of paying “Blemish” rates and BCM is good quality on average. Plus, the 14.5” can accept a higher number of muzzle devices that would allow you to get to 16” if for whatever reason you need to go the pinned and welded route. If 11.5” is good enough for your primary rifle I assume you don’t have a need for 4.5” more of barrel and plus what I associate as maybe not bad but poorer quality of PSA I wouldn’t go with your cheapest option.

Is this the pinned one to 16"? I wouldn't get that.
Not sure what you are thinking on the BCM? are you pinning it or sbring it? or is this going on an already SBR's lower?
Myself if I only had one backup I'd get a non NFA one with the muzzle threads available so I could ultimately use my suppressor on it.
And I'm not a big PSA fan in terms of quality.
Get a decent quality 16" AR like the FN 15 or similar.

patwIt's hard to beat a BCM for that price. Also check out Geissele as they have some good sales going on right now.

MikeGLIMy SOLGW is, in some ways, better (feeling) than my KAC. They're different rifles, but the fit and finish of the SOLGW is VERY tight and just feels solid.
With that said, if your sole purpose us a back up, I'd probably get the PSA and pocket the difference between the other two. It's a shame for a BCM or SOLGW to sit idle. Just my opinion.

parabellumConsidering that you have only one AR, buy
two of the PSA rifles, rather than one rifle at twice the price (your other choices). At that price, get 'em now. You never know what's around the corner.
I agree the 16" is the way to go. I wouldn't want anything less than 14.5 but the 16 inchers will give you just a bit more velocity.
Like most 16" ARs with carbine-length gas systems, the PSA may be over-gassed. They probably have H buffers installed. I'd install an H2 buffer.

alteon180eas a second AR. its hard to ignore a 16" one that you can change the muzzle devices etc over time.
PSA has a "SABRE" line with their CHF barrels. i think they are $1k over the weekend...not a bad deal. Nothing wrong with a BCM. unpinned barrels if possible.

Well, what'd you get?

Black92LXBuying right now would be the FN FN-15 SRP G2
On sale for $889 is excellent
https://www.guns.com/firearms/...-barrel-new?p=293592But I have a bunch.
If I only had one I would have to agree with Para I’d buy 2 PSAs.

Legal Beagle https://sonsoflibertygw.com/pr...r-v1-barrel-bcg-lch/SOLGW makes some good gear, and I think this is a solid deal.
Complete upper at $700 since they include a BGC and a CH +, add $125 on a lower (I have some for sale in the Classifieds!!

) and you're up to 850, and then add a LPK and a good trigger and you're at maybe $1100. That would be my choice.
And Para makes a solid point: having more lowers is never a bad thing. I happen to have a five pack of Andersons in my stickied classifieds ad too.
