Or at least that’s the response I received from my Ruger “Tell the CEO” inquiry. Reasoning was that it would be too heavy if made to be durable and reliable enough to handle the cartridges. Darn. Hoping they have enough interest to design a carbine around those calibers. I’ve got like 5K of plated reloads I’d like to burn up. Email Response This message has been edited. Those CMMGs are really nice looking. I was hoping for a quality product closer to 6-$700. Despite being heavy and ugly. My kids and I really love our 9mm PC.

Most unfortunate that Ruger won't make the carbine in 10mm. That would be a useful caliber for a carbine. Ruger figured out how to make the 10mm work in a 1911, doesn't seem like a huge step to crank out a 10mm carbine. Time for some innovation please. U.S. Army 11F4P Vietnam 69-70 NRA Life Member

Wait, what? |
I could understand the resistance to 10mm as there isn't a huge number looking to get into the cartridge. It wouldn't be a great return on the R&D investment to sell a few thousand guns and have them taper off. But .45 is a heavily used caliber that wouldn't require any real alteration to the platform. The lower pressure generated by the cartridge would balance out enlarging the chamber size when compared to 9mm or .40. They should float the idea at SHOT and similar venues and farm for interest. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

I don't believe his reasoning. If a zinc alloy Hi-Point carbine can handle 10mm it's silly to say a Ruger cannot handle even 45acp. Almost every other company sells a version of their blow back PCC in 45acp.

Build yourself an AR. If my 10mm barrel ever gets here I’ll have just about $700 in it I believe. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. What I'm hearing is that if it wasn't blowback, they could do it. What Ruger really needs to do is come out with an affordable, gas-operated PCC that isn't butt ugly like the PC Carbine (I owned one for a while, I wanted to love it, but it just didn't meet expectations, and not just because of the appearance). I'm thinking something along the lines of a pistol-caliber Mini-14. There are very few options in that market segment right now, and none of them are affordable. If anybody can do it, Ruger can. And I can assure you if they do, they'd sell like hotcakes.

I got a Million of 'em! |
^^^^^^^^^^^^ The B&T is coming in 10 soon also but my guess is it’ll be a little more than the OPs original ceiling of $700.

That BT looks incredible. I was just hoping for something a bit cheaper. I like the idea of a rotating bolt style action like a Mini 30 maybe just modified/simplified. Adjustable gas port so you could go from plinking rounds to 45 Super and beyond. Shoot, now I think I’ve got the price back up over 1K. Might have to look into SBRing a Thompson 1927-A1 after all.

There aren't a huge number looking to get into the 5.7X28 either, but they just produced a pistol in that. Given that 10mm is on par with a .41 magnum, a 10mm carbine might be a great choice for a truck carbine or camp rifle...much like the old marlin camp rifles. Pistol caliber carbines are getting very popular of late, and 10mm still has a healthy cult following.
Marlin made the Camp 9 and the Camp 45. A pistol caliber carbine in .45 would be great. Given the en masse worship of the 9X19 these days, I don't know how successful it would be, but has long put out firearms in less popular chamberings. They still off .41 (thank God). Now if they'd just make a carbine in .41...

And you believe what management says ?? Silly boy....wait a bit and I'll bet Ruger comes out with just those versions ! They just don't want to let the competition know that they're working on it. Heck , even Hi Point can make a carbine in 45 and 10mm . All Ruger has to do is to not make it so ugly !

The weak link in the Ruger carbine is that it's 9mm. 10mm would be a major step up for a car gun. U.S. Army 11F4P Vietnam 69-70 NRA Life Member

DSgrouse, I don’t know what that product/forward grip is on your B&T is, but that sure looks like a vertical fore grip on a pistol...which is a violation of federal law. Perhaps you have an AOW stamp for it...just trying to help a brother out. I see a lot folks mess this law up, so I’m trying to give a heads up. Don’t mean to be nosey.

Funny. I got back into firearms in 2011, after taking about 15 years off (marriage and kids). And PCCs were still the rage. Faded by 2013 or 14, and...they're back. I had a Ruger PC40 and got rid of it pretty quickly (got out of that caliber). I also got and got rid of a Marlin Camp 45...filthy gun to shoot and clean. Being blowback design the receiver had to be rather massive, so I recall a lot of questions then about making one in 10mm. The industry response was it would be too heavy to make it workable, and it is a niche caliber. All that said, I did get an CMMG Banshee AR pistol in 10mm and it is SWEET, but, under the circumstances, I have not shot it recently... A CMMG Banshee is 38 super would be fun. But I'd stick to 10 mm.

TNW Aero takedown rifles are available in 9mm, 40, 10mm and 45. I bought a 45 and love the thing. Uses Glock magazines.
