Here's another review wherein, the author reports better results at 50 yards.:

"All my grouping was sub-MOA, and the best of the bunch was .5 MOA. "

Based on that it sounds like one may be in my future! I want one with the "A-grade" walnut stock, so will check my favorite fun store to see if they have them.

I have watched a lot of reviews of 22 LR ammunition and rifles, including many of both guns and ammo in the top tiers. Considering the prices of these guns, 1" at 50 yards (~2 MOA) seems quite respectable, especially if coupled with a precision guarantee and at the lowest grade’s very modest price. I’m not going to trade my Winchester model 52E or even my Ruger 77/22 with Lilja barrel for one, but I believe one could do a lot worse for many applications.

That review noted at the bottom of page one- I about laughed out loud!
Claiming to want to get the most out of accuracy testing them using a 3-9 hunting type scope and Remington ammo?
If the rifle performed dismally, I would reserve judgment - Remington has a well denser Ed reputation for being the worst quality 22 ammo on the market

Depending upon the target, 9× magnification is plenty to minimize aiming errors at 50 yards. I use a (~)1-6× scope for a drill with a 223 Remington rifle at 50 yards without even having precisely defined aiming points on my targets, and yet have achieved many sub-MOA results. Some scopes are obviously far superior to others in terms of optical quality and mechanical precision, but if we’re just shooting with all the adjustments in one position and we can see the target, the scope doesn’t have to be very good to achieve valid test results.

On the other hand, I absolutely agree that I would be suspicious of any claim about Remington ammunition, even the “target” variety without well-documented testing. And interestingly, that seems to be absent from the Internet. Such tests may exist, but I wasn’t able to find any in my limited searching.

As has been discussed here recently as well, three-shot groups are usually nothing to brag about. So, like you (I believe) the review’s claims about the rifle’s inherent precision should be kept in perspective.

It’s still made by Springfield armory who gave money to gun grabbing politicians to exempt themselves but screw over everyone else.
