Hamden106At a recent gun show I saw an M1 Carbine (no pix. sorry)
a sporterized Mannicher stocked M1 Carbine. Never saw one before.
I liked it a lot from an appearance pov.

casBishop and other companies sold then in the 60's, along with things like thumbhole/pistol grip models.
I've long appreciated things like that, as well as other sporterized war trophies. Now we look at them and cringe, with the historical value gone, but it represents a period in history, shooting and otherwise. I appreciate the work that went into them, and I guess the nostalgia. It's long been a problem for me, because it leads me to buying, and usually over paying for things. Things that few others want, at least that bad. When/if the novelty wears off or it just doesn't work for me for some reason, I always take a beating on it.

I wonder why Bill Ruger never tried that with the Mini-14?
It works well enough with the 10/22, after all...
