I made an executive decision and wanted to use my Hensoldt BLITS scope with my SIG AMT. I got my BLITS some time back and it already had a 7.62 elevation drum installed. I mounted the BLITS scope on my Estes Adams AMT mount with no issues whatsoever. I must admit this setup does look very nice. I would love to have a factory Dr. Wöhler 4X setup, but I have never seen one for sale. In the meantime, this setup will have to do. It fits nicely into a German military G3 scope case. I'm also impressed with the radioactive material warning. Now for what I need help with; how do I move the elevation and lateral drums when I get the scope zeroed in. I assumed this was identical to a regular Hensoldt Fero Z-24 scope. But no, that's not the case. Here is a picture of a Fero Z-24 scope lateral drum attachment. The elevation drum attachment is identical to the lateral drum attachment. Notice the two screws on the drum top. To adjust the drum, one loosens the drum by backing off the two screws, hold the adjustment shaft in place via the central slot, and move the loosened drum to the value you want. Finally, you tighten down the two screws you loosened. I've done this many times and it works just fine. Now take a look at the BLITS vertical drum attachment. There is one central screw that has a scalloped head. What is that all about? The BLITS lateral drum attachment is identical. How does one loosen, adjust, and finally tighten the drum. I'm not going to mess with anything until I find instructions on how to do it. I've asked around for a BLITS scope instruction manual, but I've never found one. I saw that GSI (Gun South) is shown with the radioactive warning. So, I decided to contact them for some instructions. Then I found out that GSI has gone out of business. Damn! So now I hope I can find somebody here who can help me. “Elections have consequences, and at the end of the day, I won.” – Barack Hussein Obama, January 23, 2009

I assume that the Ti source is located under the screw and from the way the inner disk is labeled I assume that the screw is the actual adjusting screw for the basic height setting and the rotating cover is the usual BD and has been designed so that the light source is not lost. Otherwise my next point of contact would be IEA or hensoldt.de

One came available last summer; I contacted a guy I know and he worked out a deal for it as he's been looking for some 15yrs. It was definitely a five figure price. His comments about it "After 15 years of searching, I finally found an extremely rare Dr Wohler optic for the SIG 510. According to what I read, somewhere between 50 to 100 were sold commercially. I only know of 4 or 5 that actually exist. I’m so happy to complete my 510 package."

Daniel, I just emailed both IEA and Hensoldt inquiring about a BLITS manual. I'll keep you informed as to their replies. “Elections have consequences, and at the end of the day, I won.” – Barack Hussein Obama, January 23, 2009

Hensoldt just struck out. Here is their latest email: Dear Daniel, many thanks for your email and your request. The 4x24 BLITS rifle scope was last manufactured and delivered over 35 years ago. Unfortunately, for this reason we no longer have any documents available. We´re very sorry, but we can no longer help you with a manual. Check out my off topic comment above. I'm in touch with one of the sellers (HKSIG). I scored something form his auction and I can ask if he has a pdf of the manual availabe.

Here’s a link to an old post on another site. It has a picture of the manual. https://www.m4carbine.net/show...pe-complete-w-Extras It is a DOD manual, so I wonder if there’s any military archive that might have one.

I am disappointed that I haven't heard from IEA yet. “Elections have consequences, and at the end of the day, I won.” – Barack Hussein Obama, January 23, 2009

Neat optics. Just curious, because I am ignorant about scopes of this type from that era. How is the image quality compared to modern offerings? I know that these were/are premium scope makers. I also realize that these optics are sought to complete a period correct rifle, and there is a high influence of being collectible in the prices that such optics command. I'm only asking out of genuine curiosity about how they look compared to optics with more modern coatings, etc.

Image quality of my BLITS scope is very good. I have no complaints whatsoever. I am sure modern scopes would have even better image qualities. But I'm not interested in using any modern scope. I wanted my Hensoldt BLITS scope with an Estes Adams mount to become an ersatz Dr. Wöhler 4X scope with a SIG AMT mount scope. “Elections have consequences, and at the end of the day, I won.” – Barack Hussein Obama, January 23, 2009

I received the goods I bought from hksig at his auction (Hensold .223 BDC turret for a Z24), but unfortunately no answer to the BLITS manual.

I would think that someone with one of these manuals would simply scan the entire manual into a PDF and offer it. Hell, I did this myself for a couple funky .22lr conversion kits, for no charge. “Elections have consequences, and at the end of the day, I won.” – Barack Hussein Obama, January 23, 2009
