I’m about to start my first build with one of my grandsons. I’m planning on doing something relatively simple and I’ve been building the parts list.

Has anyone had any issues with the Aero Precision lower (and/or upper) receivers? They seem to be, from my reading, a reasonably priced and reasonably quality set. Specifically, I’m considering the M4E1 stripped upper and lower. Any plus or minuses are welcomed.

I’ve used an Aero upper on a recent build. The quality was pretty much standard, comparable to Bushmaster and Anderson. I went with the Aero because it was on sale at the time.

I have never heard of anyone having trouble with an Aero receiver set.


I myself have used Palmetto, DPMS, Stag, Anderson, and LRB. Never had a single issue.

Aero is your typical good to go lower. Be sure to watch some how to videos.

Have built two Aero sets into SBRs in the last 2 years, one an M4E1 and the other an M5E1. Both have been good to go ever since. The threaded spring channels for the rear takedown pin and safety selector are nice features. Keeps you from chasing after a spring that likes to go flying.

Lately I've noticed a few places carrying Ruger lowers. Anyone have any experience with one? The ones I have seen are about $90. Not sure they are worth twice the price of an Anderson, but down the line it might make resale easier being a bigger name brand.

I have sold uppers, stocks, parts... etc. I rarely sell lowers or complete rifles because I generally retain them to avoid the hassle of another trip to my FFL. Everything else is shipped to my door and lowers don't wear out unless you are shooting a BUNCH.

No reason to spend an extra $40-60 on a lower for some potential but intangible resale down the road.

I still own my first lower I ever built on. I've got a nicely tuned JP single stage trigger in it, so even if I ever decided to part out that rifle, I'm not going to buy a new lower just so have to reinstall and re-adjust my trigger.

Last 14-15 builds have been on AP lowers & some of their uppers with No issues... if you shop around they are around $60-65 shipped !

I've built on a number of Aero lowers & a few uppers. Always good-to-go, in fact now I seek them out. Their price & quality is a nice balance, IMO.

Yeah, Aero Precison is definitely good to go.

I started building ARs using their lowers exclusively about 4 years ago. I've never had a problem and they always fit well with parts from other manufacturers.

The first AR I ever purchased whole was an Aero AC-15 from Primary Arma for $500.

They seem to be bumping up their prices lately, but it's definitely good stuff.

The company got its start making precision parts for the aeronautical industry and used that knowledge to make gun parts.

There's a list of companies that Aero actually manufactures lowers for, and puts the company's logo on it.

I like Aero as well, have 2 sitting in the safe right now waiting to become evil black rifles.

I've built four ARs...two with Aero and two with Ballistic Advantage (owned by Aero) lowers...all have been perfect...same with the two Aero uppers I have used. Actually the Aero Enhanced upper with the full float handguard mount forged into the upper (pretty much requires using Aero brand handguards) is the easiest upper I have used to assemble (not having to index the barrel nut for the gas tube)...it comes with a propitiatory barrel nut and wrench...the forward assist and dust cover are already installed...

One thing about either the Aero or BA lower that I like is screw that allows any play between the upper and lower to be taken up...the play is not a big deal, but it is nice to be able to eliminate it if you choose

I bought an Aero upper and was blown away by the quality. The coloring was better than the BCM I bought around the same time. Ever since I’ve been thinking about making a whole gun out of their receivers.

Their nickel Teflon trigger group is one of the best AR triggers for the money I have ever used...you get a smooth clean 6-6 1/2 pound trigger for under $40...I have them on two of my builds and I'm about to order another...

I've used their Lower Parts kits without the trigger group (I always install their nickel Teflon triggers) and they are just a good quality basic LPK for a fair price...

No experience with the lower since I stocked up on PSA lowers years ago. I did build an upper with the M4E1 and liked it.
