SIG 550 P scope mount and optics suggestions
Do any of you members know about this scope mount from the Netherlands?

Thanks in advance for your information and time.

It appears to be copy of the B&T mount. I've got both a B&T and a U.S. copy of it. The B&T seems to work fine, so as long as the Shooting Sports one made in the Netherlands is on par quality wise, I would think it would do just fine.

The nicest one, in my opinion, is the gunfactory one. Theirs is very low profile. The only drawback to it is, because it's so low-pro, it lacks picatinny notches at the very front. They couldn't have notches there without interfering with the crest pocket.

Why not just buy a B&T mount? I would even be more inclined to try the FAB Defense Israeli mount over some random mount from a shop in the Netherlands.

I have no idea what type of scope mount and optic to buy for my 550P.

I have always shot my rifles with iron sights. Starting with basic marksmanship with M-14s and then transitioning to M-16A1s in the service in the early 1970s.

If I live long enough, I'll be 70 in March. Although my vision is pretty good it's not as good as it used to be and it's only going to decline more.

The only sighting device I have is an Aimpoint Comp M2 (?) I bought for my SBR Colt M-4A1 14.5" bbl.

So I'm thinking it would be a good idea to scope this rifle.

I don't even know where to start with the optic, either.

I'm not going to look for a Dr. Wohler, Kern or Hensoldt scope. I think they are pretty expensive.
Ideally I'm looking for an optic to shoot out to about 300-400 meters.

I think I would prefer to get the B&T mount from a vendor in the US than the mount from the Netherlands. Should be less hassle and a little cheaper.

Re: optic, I would personally go for a NF ATACR 4-16x42. Not sure what height for the optic mount.

Yeah, I have been looking at scopes for my Sig 550 as well. I'm looking at the Trijicon Creedo 2-10-36 scope for mine.

I like irons too but I have iron sights , red dots on my other Sig 551 and 553's so I am going to mount a magnified scope on the 550.

FWIW, depending on the mount(s) used, the irons are still usable beneath an ACOG, through the tube under the optic intended for that purpose.

If you want use a Mil-Std mounting base like the one of BT or the one from NL, I recommend to too take a look at the ARMS #35 mounting sytem with spacers for a 1" scope. It´s probably the cheapes and the best solution if you dont want to spend a kidney for the SIG mounting system.

I´m using a similar ARMS mounting type, but with a MIL-STD/STANAG adapter for a KERN RV sight

I've looked and looked for a factory SIG STANAG scope mount for the PE90/550/551. Called, emailed, posted WTB, no luck. I have the correct Kern scope, so I don't want to go to a pic rail mount and traditional scope. I was bidding on the recent GB auction until the price got up to 2 kidneys and first born male child, then I dropped out. Willing to go 1 kidney, anyone know where I can buy one?

STANAG is only the interface between scope and mount.
But why don´t you get the SIG mounting base with the correct adapter? gunfacory has the base. the adapter is a special order item. It´s as original as the mount normally seen in the US.

Yeah, we've seen your WTB ad in the classified ads.

But hey, thanks a lot for your helpful information in this thread.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will definitely follow up on it.

I would highly suggest that you include your target price on future WTB posts. That way people will know you are serious and not just another bottom feeder.

I put the B&T one on mine and am happy with it. I've used the B&T stuff on H&K's with excellent results.

What, me worry?

I am going to buy the B&T mount.
Not sure about the optic, rings or base yet.

The N.F. scopes are very nice but I doubt I'll want to pay about half of what the rifle cost me for a scope. My reluctance is due to never having optics before. It seems like a huge amount of money to the unexperienced, for a rifle that I probably won't shot more than 5-6 times a year. I also found out there is no longer a range over 200 yds. near me.

I'm thinking that an ACOG may be a good enough optic for my limited needs. Still open to suggestions.

I bought the B&T SIG 550 base. It should be here tomorrow.
The AGOG TA31 RCO/A4 scope is one I'm considering. There are maybe better glass options but I won't spend the money on them. The AGOG should work well at the distances I am limited to shooting at around here. It's durable, has tritium and fiber optics, and in a pinch I could mount it on my SIG 551 SP or my Colt 14.5" M-4A1 carbine. Not sure if I would have to re-zero the scope for that but I know 2 of the ranging positions would be a little off using the this model scope, (which is set up for a 20" bbl.), on 14.5" or 16.25" barrel rifles.

That unit usually sells new with a low mount AGOG base with throw levers. Is there any advantage I would have using an ARMS #35 base vs. the AGOG base?

Thanks.

I'm having trouble finding a 30mm scope mount that will be high enough to clear the rear sight on my 550. I have the B&T picatinny rail. The rear of my scope is thicker than the front.

I also used the B&T version of this mount on my 550.
