How Many Lever Actions Are Too Many?
The new Marlin 1894 in .357 just came out and I don’t have a Marlin or a lever action in .357 yet….

The current inventory includes five Winchester’s and a Henry

I've only got a pair of Winchesters in the safe, myself. So many lever threads lately and I'm lusting after a Rossi in .357.

Would one include falling blocks in the definition of lever actions or are we just talking about repeating rifles?

I don't think that's a thing. I currently have 3 Marlin 1894s, a 336, an 1895, a 39a, and a 56 Levermatic. There are still a few on my list that I'd snatch up in a heartbeat if the right deal came along.

In case someone is interested, Sportmans Warehouse has them in stock.

If you have so many lever actions that you have to begin putting them in piles and one of the piles is eighteen feet high and one day you walk by and a lever action falls off the top of the pile and hits you in the head and kills you, you had too many lever actions.

Maybe, but only by one.

Additional and therefore smaller piles would likely prevent the issue, so perhaps it's best to say that when you run out of space to create piles of lever actions which are of no real danger to you, then, you have too many lever actions.

However, with sufficient acreage, an excessive number of lever actions might remain forever theoretical.

More efficient storage methods than crude piles might help, by preventing rifles from falling from the top due to the vagaries of friction, or gusts of wind, earthquake tremors and the like.

However, even storage lockers which secure lever actions from falling to the ground could eventually become so overloaded that structural failure may occur, with the inherent danger of you being squashed like a bug. This storage method, though, does so increase the number of rifles which may be securely stored, that one may live free from fear of being crushed by a lever action rifle storage container. Containers for these containers would seem to be the answer, then, and then, perhaps container container containers, and on and on.

The problem- and the answer to the question- is then simultaneously more and less complicated than it may seem.

Still, it only takes one.

The obvious solution is that's the one that should've been in your hands.

Not sure if I am smarter after reading Paras explanation, or if it’s taken a year off my life. I’m not gonna stack my lever actions just to be safe tho..

I have levers in 22, 41 mag, 30-30, 32 Spcl, 444 & 45-70. I’m thinking a hi-cap lever in 357 could fill a role with home defense.

You have left out a lever in .410, just to be safe.

Go for it. My favorite woods combo is my Henry Big Boy in .357 & 1950's S&W 6" Pre-27. First 2 rounds in the S&W are shot shell for squirrels and such.

Mine's a SAA and a Marlin 45LC. Loaded out just the same, except used for grouse. We don't have eatin' squirrels 'round these parts...unless a fella is hungry enough.

I have calculated that 10^59 lever actions would cover all land masses of the Earth to a depth of 6 meters.

Of course this would mean the extinction of man, most land animals and insects and most of the plant life on the planet, thus leading to large-scale extinction.

This translates into too many lever actions. Naturally, this will remain purely theoretical for the foreseeable future, since there have been, at most, several million lever actions produced since the Volcanic appeared in the 19th Century, thus leading one to the conclusion that it is not possible to have too many lever actions.

Unless you put them in large piles...

I'm pretty sure Keith Richards would then learn to use a Lever Action.

My current roster is 6. And I am looking to increase it if I can find a Trapper that I can afford! Also on the wanted list:
Winchester 1895 SRC in either 30-40 Krag or 30-06.
Time to buy a lottery ticket!
