I don't know the model the family Uncle has, but its a short 45-70

Do you remember about how long the barrel was?

I shoot the Win 1885 125th anniversary model in 45-70 and it is great fun. Recoil with a 325 gr bullet at 2200 fps is not bad.

Have you any experience shooting 12 gauge shotguns?

Its not any worse than that.

I've gotta admit, I've never shot a 12 gauge that weighs only six pounds.
