Having all but accepted I’ll never own another sig 556 (and seriously kicking myself for not keeping the one I had), I’m intrigued by this latest generation of Bufferless ARs. I’m beginning to think a 13.7 or 14.5 P&W with a folder is an attractive option compared to my current 16” AR for the closet gun role. I’ve considered a 10.5” with no stock as well, even though I like the look of a folding triangle brace but not sure I want to toe the line on one of those.

I’ve got two Wilson AR lowers sitting in the safe right now. Ones going to wind up a 458, just haven’t decided from who.

I see stuff like the BRN-180 and PSA JAKL which I’m leaning toward, I’ve also seen the foxtrot Mike stuff but they don’t sell just uppers. Does anyone have any feedback on the brownells and PSA offerings and are there any others out there?

If you want to dip your toes, Bear Creek Arsenal makes very affordable uppers. I bought their BC-22 upper and it shot flawlessly so far. A lot of fun, comes with a m-lok rail and upgraded flash hider.

PSA JAKL is cool but it’s still a PSA…plenty of horror stories of poor QC out there. BRN upper is awesome and very reliable, my only gripe is the reciprocating charging handle.

I’m very tempted by them for the big bore build, but I do struggle with trusting a $250 upper let alone in a big bore. I’ve been researching them a bunch.

That’s a bummer, I didn’t realize it reciprocates. On a side charger it’s probably something I could live with, I figure most side charging ARs would be reciprocating.

I've sold to them for deburring. Its a great local NC factory. They are able to offer the prices they do because they churn out something crazy like 5,000 rifles a day.

Whatever happened to Faxon's ARAK-21? I was interested in them 10 years ago. It's still listed in their website, but is never in stock.
