I was working up a 300 yard load with my vintage sniper rifle. Tested 155 grain Hornady ELD-M's. Looks like the 155's work very well! Two separate groups measured 1.9"/0.6 MOA at 300 yards.

I ran the numbers and they perform identical to 175 SMK's at 600 yards. At 300 and 600, they outperform the 168 and 175 grain SMK.

The 168 SMK at 2625 FPS has a bullet drop at 300 of 5 MOA with a windage of 2.6 MOA, while the 155 ELD-M at 2780 FPS has a drop of 4.3 MOA with a windage of 2.3 MOA

At 600 yards the 168 has a drop of 17.1 MOA with a windage of 5.9 MOA, while the 155 has a drop of 14.7 MOA and a windage of 5.1 MOA

I need to order more of these.

Tony.

Nice shooting!
Can you give us some info on your rifle and loads?
I'm looking for some better bullets to use in my Rem 700 5R Milspec. Currently using 168 & 175 Matchkings out to 500 meters.
Thanks

The group at 9 o'clock was 43.5 grains of IMR-4895 @ 2768 FPS, SD: 15. The group at 6 o'clock was 44.0 grains of IMR-4895 @ 2781 FPS, SD: 5.9. CCI#200 primer, LC cases.

Tony,

Nice shooting. It looks like those 155's are doing well coupled with your Walther ICR barrel.

I'll have to try some in "Reachers" standard Walther barrel and see what they do...

Nice shooting.

The 155 grain ELDs are good bullets. They work well in many quality barrels. Probably their biggest issue is that the lighter bullets doesn't have the highest BC, so you have to push them to fairly high velocities to get effective wind drift in the ballpark of the heavier-for-caliber bullets.

Great shooting.

I have found a node with these (and Sierra 155 Palma Match) at 2730fps and 2840fps in my 24" Steyr. The ELD-M I run 0.020 off the lands and 0.030-0.045 on the Palmas. I run magnum primers with 0.2-0.3 less grains of powder than standard primers with a lower standard deviation result.
