There was all this hype when LMT started making piston 7.62 rifles in an AR pattern...never understood why when Sig gave us one of those years ago. I briefly owned a 716 that I got in trade, never even fired it. Recently my interest has been rekindled, and a few have popped up in local classifieds. The prices theyre putting up are getting close to $2K though, and that seems high...anyone own one and verify if theyre worth paying that much for? I do like the idea of a piston 7.62.

I had a Gen 1 and loved it. Accurate and reliable! No issues at all. That being said, the new ones are more streamlined and lighter, and I’d rather have one of them.

Sex offenders can not be rehabilitated. It's in their wiring. They should not be released back into the general public. On the other hand they should not be warehoused either. I think they should be executed.....Spectre

Mine was extremely accurate and reliable. Ended up selling it to purchase a SCAR 17 but quickly regretted selling it.

I've got one of the early one's and enjoy it. They are big, heavy and blocky but accurate and reliable.

I'd say 2k is a little high for the platform but in today's gun market, the overall any gun prices are just becoming the norm.

I have a 12" 716 upper on mine currently and that helps immensely with the feel but it's also only 12" of barrel, so not something for any distance.

Of that style rifle, I still prefer my Noveske N6 over the 716.

They could be had for around 1700 most of the time, I have a GEN one, bought it. New was a jam. O-Matic sent it to Sigg. They put the second generation bolt carrier group in. It absolutely runs perfect now.

The new 716 from SIG is the 716i TREAD. It is DI, so not even remotely the same rifle.

Now that I think about it, the one I looked at was a Tread model…. Can’t say anything about it other than it was lighter

I’ve got a Gen1 DMR, I’ve had zero issues with it. Yes it’s a bit heavier but I just started working out a little bit longer Razz

Actually I only shot it prone or off the bench, and don’t carry it around much. I would like to replace the quad rail for something slimmer & lighter but as I understand it, it’s proprietary.

I know I could look it up, but since you brought the new tred up, is it DI or Piston?
