I need a case to take 2 rifles, one with a scope, with me from Jax to Seattle. I'll probably add a pistol in it as well. Wheels would be a big selling point. Any suggestions? I've hit most of the sporting goods store here without finding one I like. Im going to drive down to the new Bass Pro Shop tomorrow and see what they have. I hate buying this sort of stuff on-line without a trusted recommendation. Pelican 1700 series. 1700 1720 1750 Based on rifle length. Spendy and may cost extra baggage depending on loaded weight. Do not send me to a heaven where there are no dogs. Step Up or Stand Aside: Support the Troops ! Expectations are premeditated disappointments.

The 1750 will be oversized. For example, it’s L+W+H is 63”-80” which on Delta means an extra $200. The 1700 and 1720 will limit your rifle length. You’ll have to have locks with short shackles on all lock points to meet TSA requirements that the locked case cannot be easily opened. Only locking one corner or using locks with long shackles may allow a case to be opened enough to get the firearm out. Use your own locks (not TSA approved locks), keep the keys or combinations to yourself, and wait around for TSA to scan your bag in case they want you to open it. I walked away once and got the call over the intercom. Your scope may go in your carry on, otherwise no firearm parts or ammunition.

Thanks all. BPS had a pretty solid Cabela's branded case that will work. It listed for $206 but was on sale and the military discount got me out the door for $97. “We truly live in a wondrous age of stupid.” - 83v45magna "I think it's important that people understand free speech doesn't mean free from consequences societally or politically or culturally." -Pranjit Kalita, founder and CIO of Birkoa Capital Management

That's an awesome deal. Be sure to NOT used "TSA approved" locks. Get really good locks, like Abloy. Nobody should be opening your case without you physically present. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I’ll second the Pelican (and their off brand, Storm cases) But the BPS & Cabellas are just as good. But for $97 with the discount? Yep! You scored!!! ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. My repeated experience is that this is not true. Delta (and other carriers) consider it “ sporting equipment” and no differently than golf clubs or skis. Therefore it’s charged regular baggage fees. From Delta: https://www.delta.com/us/en/ba...s/sporting-equipment SPECIAL ITEMS Sporting Equipment You can bring most sports equipment with you on your trip, though keep in mind that standard checked baggage fees apply based on cabin, travel region and total number of checked bags. Overweight baggage fees apply to bags that exceed 50 lbs and bags cannot exceed 115 linear in/292 cm (length + width + height). Items in excess of the baggage allowance will be subject to additional, overweight, and oversized baggage fees. Please refer to Calculate Baggage Estimate for additional details. All Sports Equipment must be packed in a durable protective container designed specifically for the equipment.

We use a Pelican 1750 and a Pelican Storm 3300 for the longer stuff. Both are a little heavy (25 pounds unloaded) but super durable and protective. Side story…Last month leaving DTW (Detroit) the United check in counter guy geeked out over our Pelican case and its contents. He started telling me his CCW is a Walther ( I forgot which model he told me) and that he’s building an AR10 variant etc etc. He just wanted to talk guns on and on. Was a super nice guy and actually ended up giving us a discount on our baggage fees.
