I’d like a .308 gas gun

Goofy green and tan cosmetics and the 12.5" pistol configuration aside, it's just another SR25/M110ish large frame .308 AR. Which means it's needlessly heavy and overbuilt, being effectively just an AR15 scaled up to +X%.

Even this 12" Sabre pistol weighs 7.2 pounds, before ammo and accessories.

Personally, I'd much rather have a Small Frame .308 AR, which is a newer style of .308 AR that uses what are effectively AR15-sized receivers with an enlarged .308 magwell and bolt. Bigger only where it needs to be. This means weight savings, plus they can use most AR15 accessories instead of just the more limited AR10 options.

So if I were in the market for a .308 gas AR in this Sabre's $1300ish price range, I'd go with something like a Ruger SFAR for the weight savings, plus save about $400 to boot considering you can get one for ~$900.

The 16" Ruger SFAR is 6.8 pounds, saving you nearly half a pound over this 7.2 pound Sabre pistol despite the 3.5" inches of extra barrel/velocity and 5.5" of additional handguard length. Or saving you about 1.7 pounds over the comparable length 16" Sabre .308, which weighs in at 8.5 pounds.

All excellent points I had not thought about and $350-$400 to boot!

Bought their Sabre lower to use in my pseudo Mk12 Mod 0 build. Changed out a few internal parts but have had no issues.

I recently bought a regular PA-10 in .308 with an 18” barrel. It’s pretty nice, and weighs in at 8 lbs. I just don’t see the need to spend the extra money on a Sabre, unless you are planning to use it for work or HD. I don’t know how much better quality you get with the Sabre line.

The one you’re looking at is a 12.5” pistol, and mine is a rifle. Mine is also black, I’m not into the green/tan colors.

I do kind of like the color combo for something different. Have lots of black rifles.
Also like the shorter barrel 16” barrel plus the suppressor would make it pretty long.
