Need to get an original for someone that has everything. Don't want a reproduction. I've checked CMP and gunbroker but not having much luck. Where's a good place and what is the going rate for one in good condition?

From $1500.00 to about $5000.00 I believe. I have one I am considering putting up for auction.

I think the Paratrooper Carbine are actually called the M1A1 Carbine. Only Inland Receivers were used. There is alot of information available so you can verify one is authentic vs a parts made up non original.

Keep looking and prepare to shell out some dineros. Educate yourself on them as well. Lots of fakes out there.

Good luck and happy hunting.

They never recorded the SN's of that version so while you may have the original stock, you can never verify that it left the manufacturer in that condition.

They were produced almost during the entire run. Springfield Armory did produce a small batch of parts.

Your best bet for a reasonably priced example is to keep an eye on the Classifieds section of various milsurp forums, like Gunboards and the CMP Forums.

Authentic M1A1s are not common, but they pop up for sale online from time to time.

That's not an original M1A1. It's an original Inland M1 Carbine, in a modern reproduction M1A1 stock.

A local shop had one for low $3xxx price. I can can find info if you're interested.

I'm happy with my USGI Inland in a kit that I paid $600/OTD on. Not a collector example of course

Yep. I think they generally charge too much but I don't know that market enough to know if it was a fair ask.

The M1A1 was not in continuous production for the duration of the war. The general dates of production and delivery are known, so you can eliminate some serial numbers from contention.
