Imagine if someone had figured out the machanics of a good compensator when this beastie was first fielded. You could shoot it all day with aplomb. It might have gained the same fear generating reputation as the Mg42 as a sniper weapon.

According to the Internet the 13.2mm cartridge’s power (795 grain bullet, MV ~2608 fps = 12005 ft-lb) was less than the M2 50 BMG cartridge from an M2 machine gun (707 gn., MV 2910 = 13292 ft-lb). As for felt recoil, the Armalite AR-50 with typical scopesight weighs a little less, but of course the big difference is that the Armalite has a massive muzzle brake.

C&Rsenal does a great thorough background on the weapons he spotlights...there is a series called "Anvil" where the gunsmith tells what and why he does things...Othias and Mae do the "Primer" series.
