Told cops where to go for over 29 years…![]() |
Buddy of mine was showing off his Savage B22 with scope and suppressor that he caps rats in the backyard with. Having a P322 and a Ruger 10/22 (that I thought had a threaded barrel) I decided to finally get into the suppressor club. Has been thinking of getting 9mm and .22 suppressors since they dropped the tax and cut the processing time. Lo and behold, my 10/22 does not have a threaded barrel Started looking at barrels and a nice SS, heavy, fluted barrel similar to my current barrel is north of $200. In my research on the suppressors, lots of recommendations for a bolt host for quietest possible operation. Buddy loves his little Savage so I start looking and found the Mark II, heavy threaded barrel for $280 at KYGunco. Seemed silly to just buy a barrel when I can get a whole rifle for another $50 (well, $50 and a transfer fee) Another $56 for a UUQ 4-16X44AO Scope from Amazon (no glass snob comments necessary- not putting a scope on that costs more than the rifle) The can (Thunder Beast Take Down) was the most expensive part of the set up at $400, so all in all about $850 with transfer fees. Going to hit the range tomorrow and get the scope dialed in, looking forward to seeing how it does. What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

That is a very good looking set up. I really like how the suppressor is blended to the barrel and almost the same size. ----------------------------------------- Roll Tide! Glock Certified Armorer NRA Certified Firearms Instructor

Great rifle! Want to make it even better get yourself a Boyds Pro Varmint stock for it. Well worth the $200. https://www.boydsgunstocks.com/product-configurator I bought a MKII years ago my LGS had a bunch. I paid $189 put a Nikon rimfire scope on it the Boyds stock and have a Silencerco Sparrow also some cheap knock off bipod. Great little setup! This is the only gun that I have documented every round fired. To be honest it is my favorite gun. I just love to go and sit with this gun and take my time really working on precision shooting at 50 yards. Great stress relief, a little music in the ear pro, sitting and relaxing, working on my breathing. I have tried every .22 ammo I can find in this gun and actually compared groups. For reasonably priced ammo: CCI Standard Velocity performs the best in this gun followed by Wolf Match and then Aguila Super Extra Standard Velocity. I even tried a bunch of the super expensive SK, Elly, and some other brands I am forgetting at the moment and I did not shoot them any better than the three listed above. And yes, I am sure it was the shooter and not the ammo. But I was shooting .75” groups or better at 50 yards which is plenty fine in my book. Just found a picture and holy crap I bought this thing 10 years ago! As a side note your 10/22 needs a KIDD barrel. I have a charger I swapped out the barrel for a Kidd. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. That looks great! I love the stock. Have you had a chance to shoot it yet? Suppressed .22 is my favorite - cheap to shoot, silly quiet. Just a good time. You're right, for what it costs for a threaded 10/22 barrel, you're almost better off just buying something that's already threaded. I was trying to hunt one down and ended up buying a Charger off a friend in almost the exact config I was looking for, just need to build it out now. I haven't gotten to a bolt gun host yet, but I saw a magnetic bolt block for the 10/22 I'm going to draw up a copy of in Fusion and print off a few hopefully soon. 10/22 Hush Puppy action. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

What we know now that we didn't know then. I have several things in my safe I look at and ask, why didn't I think to get threaded barrel back in the day! Great looking rifle Boss, I like the stock also. I don't have a 22 rifle, it's on my to do list. "The left can't applaud me because their hands are in other people's pockets." - Javier Milei
