Shot the SCAR-16 at a local "black rifle" match last weekend. To be clear: I'm posting not to show anyone how to do anything other than be slow and suck. But some people have asked me to share videos.

Stage 5, with steel torsos out at roughly 100,200,300,400 yards. I hit first shot with all but shot again at the 300 because I didn't hear it hit (it took longer than I thought for the sound to travel back). totally lucked out. Optic is Aimpoint H1 (no magnification). Trigger=Geissele. Rail extension=PWS.

I placed first in Limited division on this stage.

Stage 1: started the day off with a nasty double feed malfunction. Either the bolt was full of water and hydro-locked the firing pin or something for the first shot or I'd stuffed my mag too full and the first round didn't chamber fully (even though I bumped the charging handle firmly). Anyway after 1 stage I was 15 seconds back LOL

Stage 2 wasn't much better.

Stage 3 went a little better, and I cleared the plate rack 1:1 at about 60 yards offhand, which I was happy with.

Stage 4 was going fine but then I had to take 15 shots to hit 2 steel T-post targets at about 45 yards. LOL. Then I went 1 for 1 on the next two. ???

Feel free to mock/laugh/whatever. Nice day for a match and lots of fun!

Very cool, thank you for posting. What do you think happened with the round that was hard to chamber? Also I am loving the tactical kilt the guy behind you is wearing

You did better than I could. I enjoy your match videos, you usually bring fun stuff to the range that isn't just the run-of-the-mill (everyone and their dog has an AR). Besides, as much as I like watching Jerry Miculek do his thing, I enjoy watching someone who's human like the rest of us compete. I'll never be able to compete with Jerry, but some day, I could see myself shooting a match with you and having fun with it the way you do. Smile

Not sure if that was it, but it could have been. The rifle was in a flood recently and the chamber may have had gunk in it or something. but it felt to me like the round chambered and as noted above I thumped the charging handle. It may have been the firing pin breaking loose from being stuck or something. I haven't shot the rifle in a good while.

Don't know how I missed this thread.

Gun forum threads tend to be similar...Look at the rifle that I just bought. I'll give an almost certainly glowing review once I shoot it, but I'm uncertain if I have the right ammo. What optic should I buy? What stock/trigger/accessory should I buy? Anyone own one of these? Please tell me I made a good choice.

Showing targets -- both good and bad -- is a higher form. Displaying video of competition is even better. The best is analysis of what went well and what could be improved. I hope you take the time to reflect more on your performance, and provide guidance for those who might learn from your experience.

Well done.
