Seems like those folding stock adapter’s are on sale, and the leading item in every email they send me. Do they have a hand in the company? Or did they just buy a million of them and they can’t get rid of them? lol _____________________________________________________ Sliced bread, the greatest thing since the 1911.

I sometimes think they push things they fear may get banned and they’ll be stuck with them. I have never heard of any efforts to restrict folding stocks, but anything is possible with the ATF these days. ► 6.4/93.6 ___________ “We are Americans …. I agree with you and certainly have seen that as of late, but they’ve been pushing those folders for a couple years now.

The law Tactical folding stock adapter is decently expensive, holds the majority of the folder market, and on many forums and social media, people frequently sell and purchase lightly used ones or only wait for sales. There must be a decent margin for them, because it seems to me people only buy them either used or on sale. ____________________________ While you may be able to get away with bottom shelf whiskey, stay the hell away from bottom shelf tequila. - FishOn

Yeah, that M14 video guy... |
I think they push hot items. I remember I wanted a folder for my AR pistol when the BLM riots were happening and I could not find a LAW tactical to save my life. After 8 months or so, they came back in stock. Even when I got the e-mails, I'd go check and they had already sold out. I believe folders have become more popular since people have noticed that rioters will stop traffic and come en-masse. That makes more sense than my speculation that they’re concerned about getting stuck with banned inventory. “You want it—we have it,” is a very common marketing strategy and helps take advantage of fluctuating demand. It can even increase demand by saying, “We bet you didn’t even know that this product existed, so here it is.” Although I’m still not sure about the 80% Glock frames. It could be a combination of factors, but “Get them while you can” could certainly be part of it. ► 6.4/93.6 ___________ “We are Americans …. I can vouch for Brownells on the folders. I bought two thinking I want to put it on two ARs. Then I got to thinking, what's the point of putting a folder on a 16" rifle? I couldn't find a good bag to put one folded anyway. I called and they made it easy for me to return for a refund. It was as close to being easy as returning with Amazon. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Don't know whether Brownells does this, or whether the OP may have looked at them on brownells.com, but if so, another possibility may be browse-activity-linked marketing. These days, the retailer websites are instrumented so they can see what you clicked on there, how long you looked at it (time between when you clicked on it and when you clicked on something else) and what you may have put into a shopping cart but didn't buy. If you have an account there, they also know an email address for you. Among the uses of that info...sending emails on the stuff that they know caught your eye.

I bought one when they first came out and had it for sale the next day. So I never look at them, or at least haven't in years. Doesn't matter what device or where, VPN... go look right now at the "on sale" items, they seem to be perpetually there. As stated above, there must be a decent mark up on them. Speaking of gun website curiosities, I ordered some pistol parts last night from a company I hadn't used in years. When I tried to check out, it said there was an account in that name (email) already. Had to do a password reset. Logged in, put the two items I wanted in the shopping cart and when I went to check out I see there's three items and the total is $100 than expected. The third item turns out to be something I HAD added. "I remember thinking of buying that, that was right before the ___ match. That was 3 1/2 years ago!" I don't know who's running the commerce end of their website, but they might want to change the settings, they're wasting memory. lol (I deleted the item.)

I’ve been curious about the AR folders for a long time and it’s one of the few things I wanted and didn’t jump on. A couple months or so ago I saw some knock-off on GunBroker for less than $40 went ahead and bought it thinking that if nothing else I’d put it on my CMMG dedicated 22. It took nearly 3 weeks to get here and when I contacted the seller, I found out it was coming from China. Anyway I put it on a spare receiver I have, the hinge isn’t very tight but I came to the same conclusion most have; what use is it really. I suppose if I was an LE it would be easier to deploy from the cab of the cruiser. In the long run, it gives me another inch of length for the pistol buffer on my CMMG 22. If you really want something you'll find a way ... ... if you don't you'll find an excuse. I'm really not a "kid" anymore ... but I haven't grown up yet either
