I just got a SiCo 46 Hybrid; the original, not the modular. I wanted it mainly for rifles, but it's supposed to work with pistols. So I got the last accessories in today and tried it out.

The pistol is a G19 clone (PSA Dagger), and it mostly fails to fully cycle. What usually happens is it chambers a new round with the last case stovepiped. I don't think I ever had more than three consecutive shots without issue.

The recoil spring is stock. The ammunition was some subsonic reloads. Offhand, those are the two things I can guess might be an issue other than the weight of the suppressor itself.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

With non-fixed-barrel pistols, you need to have a piston and spring installed in the suppressor in order for the gun to be able to cycle. Do you have a pistol and spring assembly in the suppressor?

Yep. Unlike with rifles or fixed barrel handguns, it needs a Nielsen device (piston) to fully cycle your tilting barrel handguns.

(Exact same issue the recent NYC CEO shooter experienced, necessitating him manually cycling the slide after each shot... No piston on his suppressor.)

Yes, a Kaw Valley piston in a Silencerco Bravo piston mount. The spring came with the Bravo direct-thread mount. I even have the 9MM end cap instead of the .46 cap it came with.

Oops; I meant to post in Suppressed Weapons Confused

‘Subsonic reloads’? What about with regular, full power ammo? Factory or reloads?

I shot a magazine each of 115 and 147 grain with no difference in cycling suppressed. Both were reloads. I've got some Winchester 124 grain, the NATO stuff, that I could try if you think it needs something maybe hotter. For new subsonic, I'd have to order some online.

Not sure I fully get the setup. You have a bravo mount on the barrel with a bravo mount on the suppressor and a booster on the suppressor?
If so the whole thing has too much weight for the spring you have. The springs are normally sized for direct thread. you can try an increase in recoil spring to see if that solves it. But most likely the best solution is back to direct thread with a booster sized for that.

It's direct-thread.

The aforementioned 1/2X28 piston is encircled by the spring and within the piston mount which in turn threads onto the muzzle.

OK add some spring to the recoil spring on the gun.

By "add some spring to the recoil spring", you mean a heavier spring or longer spring?

Perhaps not well written on my part. Change the stiffness of the recoil spring. I have no way to actually answer your question for a gun from a mfg. that I know nothing about. But for a real G3 glock (which is what is normally cloned) you need to get an aftermarket quide rod and then you can get springs that vary in stiffness. You can't really have longer springs as it has to fit in the available space. Normally the best strategy is to get a bunch of springs +- from stock and test.

OK; I'll try that. The Dagger (compact; essentially a 3G G19 with probably everything other than plastic interchangeable) seems to have the roughly 18 pound recoil spring of a G19, from what I read today. So, I'll get a 15 and 22 pound recoil spring and give them a try.

Thank you, all.

Subsonic with what bullet weight? 147gr 9mm has quite a bit more energy than loading 115s light enough to be subsonic. Ammunition may not be energetic enough.

The 147 is 925 FPS. The 115 is 1,200 FPS.

as an aside I would also say to try some factory ammo as there are way too many examples around here that are eventually determined that the ammo have some issues.

I use a Rugged Obsidian 9 with 147gr subs out of a G45 with a SilencerCo barrel with stock springs in the pistol. It runs in both the short or long configuration, and is only an ounce or two lighter than your can. I would think you could find a spring combination that would allow it to work.

It's a heavy suppressor since it's designed to work on everything and Glocks are particularly finicky with suppressors. Even with a booster, it doesn't surprise me.
