$900 - Unfired, still covered in factory oil. Comes with unopened Colt accessory pack but no box. It would be about a two hour drive for me, each way, twice because the seller insists on selling as a complete rifle rather than transfer as a receiver, which would make it one trip (the vagaries of Washington state gun law loopholes). Transfer free is $15, pretty cheap for the area. I showed it to a friend who's pretty familiar with Colt rifles and he said based on a few little details, it looks like a more recent production carbine. It used to be, buy a Colt if you want the best. I know that has changed. I've had thoughts lately that I want a simple, M4 style carbine with a pencil barrel. Then I see this for sale locally, and well, that's what that is. I'd love some input on this. I'm tempted, but the drive alone is putting me off it. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

I didn't think the new company, Colt's Manufacturing Company, LLC, was producing complete rifles with a pencil barrel. I've only seen their M4 model. I would call Colt with the serial number and ask when it was made and in what configuration it left the factory. They used to tell you this info on the phone but you would have to pay if you wanted it in a letter from them. Let us know how it turns out. rambo

Left-Handed, NOT Left-Winged! |
I haven't seen anything from Colt lately that I would bother with. LGS has one with the OEM Centurion rail, but with a 16" carbine gas barrel. Colt needs to move into this century and start using mid length gas on 16" barrels. The 6720 has the same issue, carbine gas on a 16" barrel. Instead, I would advise getting a BCM with an ultralight mid-length barrel and an MCMR rail, but otherwise standard mil-spec-y.

I wouldn't bother with a newer Colt and that's coming from a Colt snob. If it happened to be an older one from 5+ years ago, I'd be inclined to say buy it. A friend has a Colt 6720 that he bought in 2015/2016 I do believe and it's a nice rifle. He worked at the LGS I go to and grabbed it with all the Hillary craziness going on then. I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

I guess I'll give it a miss. I don't need a Colt so bad that I'm willing to do four hours of driving on top of asking for a serial number to run down exactly when it was made. If Colt's reputation has gone that there's a hundred view and three replies and nobody telling me to jump on it, that's probably all I need to know. I have a couple "roll your own" AR's, a mix of PSA, Spike's, and such, but no "quality" AR. I think it's probably time to change that. I'll look at other manufacturers. Took a quick look at BCM, but their prices aren't listed on their site. That's annoying. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

I thought that ended last summer.

If it did, the guys at the shop I was at two weeks ago were giving me bad advice. I dunno, maybe it's different for AR's and pistols. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

That rug really tied the room together. |
That’s old stock. They haven’t made them in years as far as I know. It’s a definite BUY from me. They are hard to find and way better than a run of the mill 6920 in my view. Buy it. What’s in the accessories pack? Metal mag? Those are ten years old at least… ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

With a little more information, it could be a jump on it deal. If you don't want to bother, I'm sure there's another guy out there who will. rambo

Just found that the new owner of Colt is producing a pencil version. If this is one of these, I'd pass. But you won't know without a little digging. https://www.colt.com/detail-pa...carb-lw-556-161-30rd rambo

Oh, I'm sure it's a matter of time. It's been listed for a while now, so as you say.
I sent him this link and asked him what year it was made: https://www.colt.com/serial-lookup Now to ask the right question: What's the cutoff year for one of you if you were buying, as in no later than? I keep going back and forth on whether it's worth messing with, but the truth is, a nice Colt in this configuration would be a good rifle to have. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

ive got a 6720 that ive had for 10-12 years. great, lighter weight weapon. I also have seven other Colt Variants. if you're wanting the pencil bbl and like a fixed carry handle, look at the 6520

a 6720 is worth more parted out than the asking price. I got one well-used but in the box for 800 a couple summers ago. It was below-market then

Glorious SPAM! |
I think the 6720 is Colt's best carbine. I got mine around '12-'13. Absolutely love it. I should have bought a second one a little later when I had the chance.

Seller says he bought it five to six years ago. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est
